Dealership got an email last night that the software update was ready. They installed it this morning. I picked up the car before anyone could change their mind.

my salesman said the update didn’t come with any literature, so they don’t know what it did.

i love this car.

According to the dealer the car that I purchased has had the software upgrade and will be ready for me to pick up on Thursday. I asked about the software and was told it has more to do with Porsche proving the cars are not violating any emissions regulations than actual changes to the car. Admittedly the person I was speaking with did not have a high degree of knowledge on the subject but I asked them to ask the tech and this is the answer he received. I do believe that there can’t be any meaningful difference to the vehicle or Porsche would have to acknowledge it up front to avoid a large blow back from the EPA and customers. I’ll pick it up on Friday.

I think this is spot on. Any change to mileage, emissions, or performance from what was originally specified would need to be disclosed.

I am thinking about getting my .1 GTS dyno'd especially if the software fix is on its way..

Would like to see differences between my (current) OTS Cobb tune Vs OEM pre-fix Vs OEM Post-fix

BAD NEWS,
After waiting limbo for 8 months, I received a call last week saying my vehicle would be ready today. I had a PPI done on the vehicle and everything checked out (sport plus functioned normally at that time). Finally the day arrived so I headed to the dealership and completed the purchase of a used 2014 C4S w/sport chrono. My sales rep assured me there is no difference in performance. I took his word for it, signed the paperwork and off I went... On the way home I discovered SPORT PLUS MODE DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY after the reflash! The major difference being while sport plus is engaged and you let off the throttle the vehicle upshifts just like sport mode. It does not hold the gear to redline the way it is designed to.. I noticed the upshifting immediately.. I owned a 2014 981 Cayman S so I know how the vehicle is supposed to perform while in sport plus.. I immediately text my rep and he said to bring it back so service can look at it.. not sure what i can do at this point. can i refuse or return the vehicle since it doesn't function as advertised?? .. I'm beyond livid.

That is annyoing, but not entirely surprising. So it won't go near the redline after this "fix"?

It seems to get close to redline but not quite.. more concerning is that while in sport plus mode, it automatically upshifts shortly after releasing the throttle.. it supposed to hold the lower gear until the redline is achieved…it doesn’t feel right

Apologize in advance if this was already posted but for current owners, this recall just popped up for me, presumably same issue. I have a 2015 C2S PDK with SC.

can't say i'm surprised. was almost expecting and dreading something like this happening. don't use S+ often (don't track so extremely rarely gets used) so if this is the only setback, i'll be ok....... but lets wait and see what else has been "updated". zero doubt this isn't the end of the story. we should have known all the hush hush/under the radar bs over the last year would never end well. LMFAO!

can't see a reputable dealer refusing to take back the car if you did indeed contact them that soon after delivery (and you never took a test drive before). time is not on your side. get back there asap and sort things out. and PLEASE let us know what happens

The recall is up on both Porsche and NHSA websites:

This looks like bad news as this will be an automatic fix once you take your car in to get inspected. Looks like you will not be able to refuse it or the car will not pass inspection.

Just to confirm what has been said by others, it seems only cars with PDK are affected. I entered the VIN for mine (manual) and got these results:

That's a blanket statement that I don't think is true. In Ohio, you can register a car if there's an open SAFETY related recall, and this recall is emissions based so it's at a different severity level.

Can you provide some documentation to support your statement?

EDIT: I believe California is a state that can stop you from renewing, but I don't believe it's country (US) wide.
