You have to remember that the 12C has 616 HP and the 675LT has 666hp, and that 50 hp is most likely accomplished by tuning the ECU rather than having any unique parts within the powertrain.

I will say that the 12c and 570s do feel sufficiently different from each other though, especially for cars that share the same motor / trans
The 675LT does in fact have a number of significant powertrain upgrades over the 650/12c, including: lightweight connecting rods, bespoke camshafts, a new electronic recirculation valve (these all maximize engine response), 300 percent stiffer engine mounts (optimizes connection between driver and road surface), new machined-from-solid turbocharger compressor wheels (maximise airflow to the combustion chambers), and an optimised fuel pump (increases fuel flow)

The 600LT vs the 570 on the other hand, is just tuning and exhaust.

I thought the LT has chassis revisions.

I was just listing the power train items. There absolutely are chassis upgrades as well

So can I assume the 7xxLT will blow the doors off the 675LT? Will people be trading their 6's for 7's?

Of course it will be far faster - all supercars are objectively improving (on performance basis) rapidly lately

The price differentials will be so great and the cars will be so aesthetically different I don't think the number of trade ups will be as material as one might expect. I expect more trade ups from 720S owners.

That's a lot of gizmos for a measly 50 HP. I don't doubt you are correct, but to put that into perspective at least half a dozen tuners are offering 100+hp tunes for the 12c that cost 2-3K and don't require parts of any kind.

I doubt McClaren did all of those upgrades simply to get a few more hp. Surely it was thinking about longevity of the drivetrain under more strenuous conditions as a reason?

power with a view to track durability, driving feel and throttle response (675LT) vs straight line boost pulls (tuned 12c). I prefer the feel, emotion and reliability (not to mention it is one of the most beautiful cars made in my view) of the 675. If one wants a 60-130 highway pulls monster, then I completely understand the boost route (although I am not a fan at all of the 12c aesthetic, and would go 720S--understanding that is a different price point than a 12c)

Exactly.

In fact, more than 50 percent of the components used in the McLaren M838 TL twin-turbo charged V8 engine in the 675LT have been replaced or updated, many coming from the P1.

McLaren also fixed their cracking window problem once and for all...
By offering a new roadster... Windshield cracks are common in the entire McLaren lineup and every time I walk by my 507S, I check its windshield. Now problem solved and another contribution factor towards McLaren' success.


I like what I'm seeing and not able ($$$ and logic wise) to get a Speedster leaves a sour taste in my mouth as I'm not a collector, I just want cars that I can drive, track, tinker with, AND look at in my man cave, the high MSRP and ADM (at least for now and on new cars) would make the Speedster costing close to half a million out of the door and out of my price range. I have no idea how much this new Mac will cost but would venture to guess its price plus my Touring would cost about the same as one decently equipped Speedster. Would you rather have a manual GT3 plus this car OR a Speedster? And why?

What do you think causes McLaren's windows to crack? Are they just too thin or something? I've seen it a lot, especially on the 720S roof glass.
