7k a year for warranty and service I’d pass also. FYI- 720 is 4500 a year for extended warranty past 3 years and service is about 1000 bucks.

I'm the kind of guy that generally services my own stuff, anyone doing that with a 675? Also, is it bonkers to own one out of warranty? I've never bought an extended warranty on anything, and it hasn't bit me, but I haven't owned a McLaren.

I'm doing that on the 570 and 12c. I have a lift in the garage, I am an engine builder, and there are two things that are really helping me service my own McLarens right now: 1) a really good non dealer parts connection, and 2) the prices of computers are coming way down. You can't buy an MDS, but there is a version of it just as good for 13K which can do anything the Mac Diagnostic system can, and there is another guy that is making one for 6K that looks a lot like durametric so you can reset all your own stuff, etc. You can also now buy your own hydraulic bleed machine so you can service the hydraulic suspensions yourself.

Service manuals are available on the gray market. McLaren is slowly losing their stranglehold on the aftermarket which is good for the cars.

Over all they have been easy cars to work on barring anything having to do with the IRIS displays which are from the devil. But even in the 12C there is a guy that made his own door mounted temp display screens that are way better than the factory ones at $600 per side - he made then for 400 per PAIR and he makes TFT screens for a living. They are brighter and won't die like the factory ones. (675 uses them also) So lots of exciting progress here.

Well in light of the fact that my primary garage tool is a hammer Macs are definitely out for me.

If you can work on a late model Porsche you can work on a McLaren, there is no magic in the car. Specific procedures yes, but no magic per se.

I got a really cool Bosch hammer drill from my brother for my wedding. Does that make me McLaren certified?

Took mine for a spin again tonight. I can’t emphasize how fantastic these cars are. Evening drive with the top down, winding roads at speed, there is nothing like it. So much faster and smoother than the gt3RS and feels just as nimble, but in lighter, a more graceful way.

Apparently folks jumped on my tip on the volcano red 675lt spider because it was under contract quickly and now has a waiting list. Someone also jumped on the silver roof scoop one I mentioned because it’s gone. Still think someone needs to jump on the Napier green spider at McLaren Dallas. It can be had for a great price and is McLaren qualified with extended warranty.

here’s a pic of mine this evening just before it got dark

^^ Beautiful car and looks better than the red, and the Orange is unique to the brand well done. When I drive the car it’s very hard to put down the keys, and I’m racking up miles enjoying every moment. So far I have no issue keeping this car for a very long time 99 of 500, and they build this car right sub 3k lbs drives like a go-cart. I say the deal of the century we didn’t pay MSRP makes it more fun(:

Looks great! I'm not a huge fan of the Napier Green myself. Also, I typical like coupes more than spiders.

What do you think of this one?

So many 675LTs for sale. This thread is sure tempting me to get one. No, I will never sell my 12C or 570s.

My 12C is #183 very early production, still built by old F1 engineers and quirky.

But man that 675 is looking GOOD

Good to hear long term owners enjoying and driving their cars. 675’s about 40ish for sale which is 4% of the total build population. I’m just going to drive the wheels off mine.

I absolutely love that car. Saw it in person. Think it is at Ogara LaJolla now. Ogara is probably the best McLaren dealer in the country. Their sales guys are really down to earth and likable. I dealt with Robbes in Beverly Hills and Fernando in LaJolla. Honestly in the sun that is the best looking color I have ever seen. For some reason volcano orange looks even more impressive on the 675 than any of the other Mclarens. I think it just accentuates the aggressive styling of the car and offsets the carbon trim so perfectly.

I actually liked it so much I made am offer on it, but they weren’t willing to budge much on price. The service history on the car was more than I would like to see, but it is qualified with extended warranty and cars with issues aren’t going to survive qualified preowned inspection.

Here is a video of the car. You can see how the color pops in the sun
