New 275/40 17's were rubbing...removed stock 21mm factory spacer and replaced with 10mm and longer lug nuts to compensate (steel though, but grateful to be able to get them)

Old and busted.

New hotness

Clearance Clarence!

We have clearance Clarence!

New spacers and lug nuts fitted...suspension still settling...quality of ride I def. prefer over the 255's. Also went up a size in front to 235's and it made more of a diff. than I ever thought it would.

Just recieved and Tested my Blaupunkt Bamberg sqr-82 with the external amplifier. Amazing condition and everything works. Going to service the cassettemechanism but otherwise it's just mount it to the car. My porsche was delivered with this option from the factory. Just great to restore it to spec...

Rolled into the shop with a laundry list:
1. Troubleshoot and repair passenger door lift motor INOP. Thanks to all for the prior forum contributions, it was determined the motor brushes were stuck, $19 (x2) later on ebay the new brush block was ordered along with a spare. I am especially thankful for the instructions on removing the motor from the regulator while it is in place. Problem solved and while at it - lubed everything inside the door, now operations are smooth and quiet. Driver side is next when opened up for #2 below.
2. Decided to replace the PO installed Sony head unit with a Blaupunkt Reno from Crutchfield along with new door speaker/tweeters and rear B pillar speakers (Infinity). Also removed the OEM booster amp, harnesses, etc. Still working on it.
3. Replaced the missing red door open light assy, on the passenger door.
4. Will troubleshoot and repair mirror switches when the drivers door is opened up for #2 above.
5. Installed new center console switch decals from Woody Peck
7. Cleaned the grounds at the SEL and the drivers side locations
8. Cleaned out everything exposed by removing all the panels, carpet, wiring, etc.

It was a good day, hope to finish tomorrow-

Took out the 86.5 for a shake down drive after installing Boge Sports (Red) in place of the existing Koni Reds and changing out the old fuel lines and dampers for Greg's ones.

One word....Wow!!!

Drove my 86.5 out to a breakfast meet in heavy cold rain. Highways had standing water on them in places, I really appreciate how sure footed the 928 is along with good tires and the ABS system. Several cars had spun out into the median.

It's a good car.

Finally got around to installing the center exhaust bracket everyone seems to be missing. It's nice to have the mid section secured.

I was also on this route for a while, great job!
I went with the P-Ken tensioner instead though. Almost finished, tomorrow everything will be double-checked and tighten up...

Not today, but a few weeks back I attended a Grasskhana, basically a skills event on a grass field. Loads of fun, other Porsche owners plus some other cars. My son also came along and got to give the 928 a good thrashing (he's not insured to drive it on the road). Here's a link to the clip of my final run of the day, I particularly like the dust running off the rear spoiler right at the start - proves it's not just for looks!

Ha Ha Ha, that really looked great, super fun contest! What can I say, I just love the V8 spinning away in the grass...I wish I could have been there too...

After a recent outing with both windows and the sunroof open, my passenger window wouldn't close however the driver's window and sunroof were operating normally. After numerous pushes on the switch it started working again but not every time yet DS and SR worked without hesitation. Express open feature was working as well except when it came to the opening the passenger window. I was thinking it was most likely a faulty switch however when I was randomly testing, I could hear the solenoid clicking each time I pressed the switch.

I removed the driver seat and pulled the window / sunroof control unit out and found terminal 31 and 34 had some obvious corrosion. Cleaned all of connections and sprayed some Deoxit on them and everything works as it should again. Yay!!
While I was at it, I disconnected the US regulation nanny jumper wire so I now have full ROW functionality of the control unit.

Then as an added bonus, When I re-installed the seat I moved it to the most rearward mounting holes so that I now have another inch of legroom.

im unfamiliar with this mod. Can you explain the difference in operation between Usa and ROW models? Do you have any images of the jumper?

I was wondering why / how the Euro cars allow operation of the windows when the car is off whereas the US cars don't. Didn't know about the jumper wire. Cool
