As I understand it, US (and probably Canada) spec cars had a jumper wire installed that does not allow for the express up feature on the driver side window or the operation of the windows and sunroof when the key is removed and the door is open. I have to give credit to Andrew AO and Alan for their knowledge of these features and the super easy mod to make them functional.

Here is the thread with the instructions and pics of the jumper wire that needs to be disconnected.

BTW, this mod is for 90+ cars only.

Michael, being that your GTS is a Japan spec car, can you confirm that you already have these features?

Thanks for the link, that was informative. i was curious to understand the differences
Yes, my Japan market 1992 model does have the express features.
1. Driver's window: Express open and close
2. Passenger window: Express open only
3. Sunroof: Express open only

3. Sunroof: Express open only
Your GTS should also then have the ability to:
4. Windows and sunroof are operational when you open a door.
US market cars require the ignition key in the on position to operate them.

I'm not sure how often this last feature would be beneficial, however this is the first car I have ever owned that has had this ability so I'm a little geeked out about it.

Interesting. Do you know if the control unit is swappable into earlier cars?

I read several different threads about the control unit when I was beginning to diagnose my intermittently functioning passenger window and that was asked in one of them. Alan stated that in effect yes it was possible but would be a lot of work because of the complexity of the harness that would be needed to be retrofitted.

At one time Paragon offered a kit to do this for the older cars however I'm not sure if they still do as I don't see it listed on their site currently.

Fuel accumulator not looking nice in the wheelhousing....Works perfect though. Sandblasted tonight. A bit pitted surface but will look nice rust prevented and fully painted...Amazing how you can refurbish parts that initially look terminal...

Gassed up the AC ...wish I'd stuck with R12 but R134 A is everywhere and cheap. Comp and my aux fan I wired in (replaced the 35 y/o pusher with an FF Dynamics) wouldn't turn on so got the necessary, jumped the pressure switch and away we went.... and it only took one 12 oz can to bring it to green zone. Based on outside temp of 70....low I know...but happy with the difference...it was going lower but I think the 4 year old battery in my thermometer was starting to go kaput...

From won't turn on to good and cold with just one can...12 oz...so it holds basically almost 24 oz when mine stops running...ish...its in the green zone and would rather have slightly low than too much...don't have scales or big guages...so I err on the light side.it recently had fresh clean out of the condenser and new seals for the compressor...new vacuum and oil charge...it'll do.

I went for a ride (first of the season!) after the cam gears change and the stock tensioner put back in it's place!
So nice to be back behind the wheel of such a great car. The 928 that is.

Everything's fine beside the tensioner already leaking.
I think it's coming from the gasket.
Not going back there anytime soon so it's going to stay like that for a bit.
They all leak (or so) after some time anyway...
I can live with that.

Now, we're ready to be back to many 928 events this summer.
Camp 928, PVGP, Frenzy...
And, I'll have all my time as I'm retiring in two days...

Love that color. Looking forward to meeting you and seeing your beautiful car at PVGP (then again at Frenzy).
