Replaced the hood struts. ...I forgot how nice the hood opens when they're new! No more getting hit on the head as it slooooowwwwlllyyyy starts to close..and then inertia takes over and you get that nice knock from the hood latch...
Near as I can tell I got about 11 or 12 years out of them...they should have been done a year ago though..
This weekend I dropped the transmission out and put the chassis on my custom dolly I built some roll around work benches from some 3'x8' solid wood doors. Really to drop trans when working by yourself. Car sitting on my custom dolly.
Looks like I will need to down size my pictures
Tonight I worked on the rear suspension hangers, get the emergency brake cable out the hanger was a PITA. Ended up just cutting the cables and using a dremel to grind a channel and used a punch and small chisel to get the remainder of the sleeve out of the hanger. I will start a build thread of of these days.
Installed previously ordered part-
snow melted-
nice piece-especially if you need a 3rd connection point on the positive battery terminal for an aftermarket accessory or a battery tender-
Yesterday I manufactured a crankshaft holder for my spare engine. It was not a pretty thing but function and not form. This was done to be able to remove the beltpulleys and harmonic dampener in order to salvage the squaretooth drivegear on the crank. Today I went to my spare engine to do this and damn that bolt was stuck! It took me with a looong breaker bar, another person with another breaker bar and a third person holding the engine down. This cannot be optimal to the crankshaft of course but a few cracks and pops later the bolt was loose. So my holder did work flawlessly. Tomorrow I can continue with cambelt-change and porkentensioner install...!
Complete tune up on the 81 Euro. New plugs, wires, rotor & distributor cap.
Replaced both front shocks to improve ride height & ride. Old ones were toast.
Replaced clamp on oil fill hose / tube on front of engine.
Replaced both front wheel bearings & races (inner & outer) - the passenger side bearing was out of round. The driver side bearing was noisy & started melting to the spindle. Used a lot of MAP gas & 5 lb sledge to remove the hub. THAT was a bear!! If you haven’t serviced, repacked, or replaced your wheel bearings then NOW would be a good time 👍👍
