Any Rennlisters from New Zealand?

Yeah. trust me. Im having trouble believing it too. But the word "divorce" is more expensive and scary than not fuelling my addiction!
On the subject of keeping the missus happy...
We need a car for the missus in NZ from 22 December for 3-4 weeks. The "rental car debacle" has scared us away from long term rentals. Last visit we put some money in the pocket of a friend for Jo to use their redundant (and for sale) 2006 Golf.
Shame we sold the M5 but no garage space. Have suggested she use the GT3 but she visits malls and doesnt want the responsibility and hassle of locating "GT3 safe parking zones" Actually Im relieved as its very low and shes a fan of multi level parking!
If anyone has a possible solution happy to flick some coin to make it work. Doesnt have to be a princess ride, my hubby is down to earth and will drive stick, auto, big small or clean or shabby. She's the best/safest driver I know after my old man who doesnt seem to have had a single accident in 50 odd years (and drives professionally in his retirement for pocket money).
Just a heads up. Im not sure the BB will be around by then LOL!

Mmmm. The Magnus wheels arent doing it for me sorry....
Paul. Thanks for the option. Wont you be needing the Audi over Xmas? I figured it was your daily? See how you feel closer to the time. Ill open the subject up again in October and see what options get presented.

Magnuch wheels in Silver/Black on a black car is not aesthetically appealing to me. The Black/Black on a black car work IMO, but I think look a bit better on the older cars.

Pel, what was the upshot on your tyre run issue?

No - probably on holiday and using Jen's Audi,.
996 (Turbo) - Still kicking A some 15 years on
A wee page 996 celebration. At 1300hp the 9E XX is not the highest HP 996 (some 1500hp monsters exist) but runs 0-300kph in under 17 secs - enough to see off all comers at the UK VMAX 2013, and has done over 40 runs.

That's handily faster to 300 than a typical Veyron or a 918 and under half the time of mine (which ought to be in the mid to high 30 sec bracket since the upgrade).
It wouldn't even owe too much daylight to the Hennessy Venom which looks to hold the production road car record at 13.63s... http://www.ndtv.com/article/world/su...seconds-321359

Yes, the pics locked up on me a week or two ago when I hit the magic limit. That said, the 9E XX is a bit of a quiet achiever compared to some of the OTT modded tuner 996Ts you see and looks pretty stock, though I suppose you could never really call any Porsche Turbo a sleeper!

Have to say Ill go with Matts choice the 996 GT3 RSR although not strictly a production Porsche.
After the first road GT2 (993 variant) I couldn't help feeling a bit flat on the aesthetics of the 996 GT2. It wasn't until the 997.2 GT2RS things got exciting again IMO.
Matt I have this rare 996 GT3 RSR book in my collection if you are interested...

Give me Fuchs or those gold wheels of his on an old 911 any day. Just my opinion.
So the car should be ready today all going well. New EBC yellow pads on 4 corners, discs skimmed and new fluid all fitted by the pro's. I've asked them to do a safety check as well because 2k ain't going to come with a fresh chassis or anything close and we don't know whats under there. I have no advice for anyone driving this thing other than to make yourselves comfortable that it is all there prior to tackling turn one at any speed.

Update.
New GT3 engine was installed and started today. All good.
Next job was de badging and applying the 997.2 GT3 decal. Picture below of how it will look.
After that there is a 50km dealer break in then its off to the paint shop for a full cut and polish/paint correction before being returned for V1 install and a thorough wax/detail. Last is new plates and then she's ready for my return (just in time).
Has it been constantly wet in Auckland. Every picture I see of my cars for the last week its been wet outside!

Car $1,800
Disc skimming x 4, new brake fluid and safety check $409
EBC yellow pads x 4 $332
Petrol $86
Banner, Carjam check & ownership transfer $60
We have one more skim left on the rotors, a spare set of cheap pads and tyres with good meat.
Right now, I'd like to pause spending and get all you fellow owners out on the track and get your money's worth.
