Any Rennlisters from New Zealand?
That chassis shot was car p**n right there. Porsche weren't happy with even the lightweight aluminium chassis so swapped it out for magnesium on some examples and had it do double duty as oil lines on most cars. Magnesium saved a few kilos but was guaranteed to burn brighter than a car sized sparkler if things went wrong.
Here are some stats from my dream drive, bit heavier but with crazy power: the 917/30.
The 5400cm³ motor produced 810kw (1100 hp) and 1140 kw (1500 hp) for short periods during testing.
800kgs
0 to 100 km/h in 2.1 seconds (and some say 1.9)
0 to 200 in 5.3 seconds
0 to 300 in 11.3 seconds
Top speed over 400 km/h"
Leaving aero aside and just looking at the power to weight ratio, it would be as big a difference as stepping into my car directly from a Daihatsu Mira!

Walter and anyone else interested.
Hi John, we are having a Have a go Day in July which could be perfect
timing.
We still have slots available for the day (Sunday 27th July). Cost is $75 .
If you can advise the below information for "each" driver I will keep your details and closer to the date I will confirm a slot time for the
day and all other relevant information.
The Have a Go Day programme is designed to give you a "taste" of what a racing kart is like and also introduce you to the club. We also provide
a full info pack which give you all the information you need. Below are some websites to have a look at in the meantime.
In terms of the day itself we supply all the gear , all you need to do is ensure you are wearing "closed shoes" , no jandals , sandals etc. We
get you fitted in a racesuit / helmet / gloves etc and give you a rundown on how the kart works.
We then send you out for 5 min run then bring you in for a rest , go through a few things with you then send you back out again for another run.

I estimated the SI Targa to be a conservative 12K. Given Ive been to Europe, SITT and by then NITT, the funds wouldnt stretch the extra distance given the bill Im now looking at for the 993.
Its the most expensive bill Ive ever had to pay on the 993 and was almost 100% more than I had anticipated for 2014. To be perfectly honest I did ask for the car to be made as reliable as possible for 2015/16 use as I have limited budgets in those years due to a change in lifestyle. As such everything that could be done has been done right down to dropping the engine for a full valve adjustment + timing check (8+ hrs).
After the 993 gets completed in the next few weeks its onto the GT3. Not much to do there thank god other than a Sharkworks bypass, Rear "Porsche" badge delete and wiring up the V1 and maybe a proper wax and polish. It will need new tyres after the NITT but luckily I bought a set of Pilot Sports for it from Tirerack in Jan which are waiting in storage. Another purchase that could have been deferred should I have known.
In hindsight if I had have held back on brakes, tyres and a few other items it would have been manageable, so it was probably just a matter of not having flexibility to manage the unknown. Next time!

Matt - see if you can share it too! (suspect you'll cane us unless you've been on the cheeseburgers).
Just flicked them an email. I'm not that light (and seem to have developed a reputation for eating junk food), plus I was pretty rubbish at Formula E with the PCNZ.

Just returned the email as well. Three of us on the day. I think possibly Doug and Paul were interested as well.
Steve has a KT100 kart he was willing to lend to RSG. Would be good to take that for an open day practice when members. Very economical practice.

Same here. Was going to join but realised I'll be overseas enjoying summer in Japan. Might see if I can pay a visit to the RWB workshop in Chiba.
