Any Rennlisters from New Zealand?
Great stuff! Very impressed there were no breakages, full credit to all on the car prep. Epic trip I'm sure, hope to hear all the little stories in due course...

Macca you gonna run 2 development programmes??? Cos bet you will end up with a few modest tuning things on the gt3 as well. Mind you given the need for a gearbox job anyway may as well select the right parts to do it with :-) Arms race ?? what arms race ?? hmm think the kit car might need cams, valve gear for another 30/40hp and 1500 top end revs for next years SITT - haha what arms race.
The crazy thing is Graeme you can probably get all that done for not much more than a 911!gearbox rebuild!
I'm very intrigued by the lotus Elise. Gary from hawkes bay a Brit who also owned that high mileage c2s in Vesuvius was cutting laps within a few seconds of a good 911 times. That was with a series 1 car making 180 bhp no mods other than tyres pads and fluid !

I sense a bit of research to be conducted by Macca on some light weight vehicles. This will be interesting. I was keen on a supercharged s1 or s2 elise at one time and drove a K20A Honda powered and supercharged one - got quite keen but didn't buy it in the end

You aren't wrong mate. A circa 700 kg S1 with 240 bhp would surely be the ticket?

I think they are 125hp and 1,080kg. Looks like 1m25s at HD is competitive. Not sure what a 924 could do but at least it was designed by Porsche to handle. That might make a difference.

I've come close to owning either an Elise and an Exige but decided to be more practical? and went for the 997 in the end. Still want one. Love the look of the S1 and S2, and the idea of owning one. Would probably go S2 Toyota or along the Honda mod track.
Other end of the arms race. A 2kcup car http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=707429543 ?
