Its registered on plates and insured as of yesterday. I have 5 days after I return before going back to Vanuatu for 5 months. So I will choose the latter (drive it as much as I can) before I go and when I get back apparently I will have a new engine and compensation. Thats what Ive been told in any case....
Nice photos Macca and Jo. All the best for repairs today and we hope you are back on tour tonight. The Mckenzie Country drive to Queenstown is beautiful so you won't have missed out, just got a different view. Wave to Mt Cook for us as you fly past.

Thanks Doug. For those unaware we had a rear CV joint start to go. Had it packed with grease yesterday morning which sorted it out temporarily till we could divert to Christchurch to have another fitted. Unfortunately you need to replace the whole driveshaft and typically none in NZ so Steve R sent two used ones down overnight via courier and hopefully one will be fitted this morning and the other will be a spare for Paul and I. Must have been all that high speed chasing water cooled turbos of Ron and John that did it! It's apparently age related but massively accelerated by track and fast road work especially running fair negative cambers like I am. Should have had it done when I did the front CV joints and bearings last year with the RS uprights. Have ordered two brand new drive shafts and rear wheel bearings to have fitted after SITT as precaution. Would suggest same for anyone else running the original 20+ year old gear like me....
Luckily the event didn't slow progress at all yesterday as evidenced by our speeding ticket for 117ph across the grassmere plains. Stupidly put away the valentine 1 to clear the window screen from clutter. Bad mistake on a clean lisence . That said helped the guys in the opposite direction with some intell. I suspect there may be a few more tickets across the group over the next 10 days. The roads are very enticing...
I have a goofs route designed today that takes in the Crown ranges. Long day tho at 5-6 hrs driving and if all goes well don't expect we will gget away until after lunch so QT before sunset hopefully. Please save us a double room....
