Thanks. Yes have driven both with aggresion and know how different they are each with its own allure torque and speed vs precision and sound. Its refreshing to find someone who wants to caretake both. Most I know have bought a C2 sold it for a turbo then shopped that for an even more powerful turbo or similar. Power usually corrupts!

It belongs to another Kohj Porsche collector. 993 Carrera and 993 TT in his garage. He visits this site so I'll let him introduce himself. No he didn't run, just came for a look.

I have a couple of 993s, one a '96 biturbo and the other a '94 Carrera, both in Polar Silver.

The old girl died four years back left the white 993 to her care giver and friend. I have pictures of the car on my PC from 4 years ago of the car and its incredibly original 1994 and only 55k km. A. Real beaut not pampered but very tidy. She bought it new when her husband passed away...

Who else? - NZ Targa Ecolight Sprint and Tour - 2 March 2014
Back in boring old NZ I went in to the Targa office yesterday and paid up on that one-day Ecolight Sprint Targa tour on 2nd March - thanks John, Paul and Sean for getting the word out on Rennlist or I might've missed it.
This is a great Targa taster - under $600 and the requirements are lower than for a full Tour in that I believe no Monit type rally computer is needed nor does the co-driver need a competition licence.
Targa.co.nz have the full details but cars just need the basics - a fire extinguisher, tow rope, warning triangle and first aid kit. Caged or uncaged can come on this tour apparently.
It's running in Franklin (South Auckland) so some NZ Rennlisters could just about coast down their driveway to the start of a stage.

2001 996 Turbo purchase bargaining chips
Just saw the yellow 996TT come up at Giltraps but thought it a bit strange as the listing doesn't mention the word turbo once and its for sale through the audi dealership and not Porsche. Anyone know the history on this one?

- remote trunk release (in some 2001s already - as in this Giltraps one)
- Self-dimming mirrors and rain sensor

- upgraded alarm
On the performance and safety front:
- x50 450HP (vs 420) factory option becomes available
- Belt pretensioner and belt-force limiter
- hollow spoke alloys (some 2001s have these too - just feel to see if the back of the spokes are rounded like the front).
- The 2002 Tiptronic transmission is also upgraded from the release model, but the changes were brought in sometime prior (shifts better and wheel switches also work with tranny in Automatic mode)
- and a strengthened chassis:

area, an additional tube with side support has been fitted for lateral reinforcement.
A reinforcement tube has also been fitted in the side of the roof frame."
There is also a nice color coded cutaway picture showing exactly where the upgraded areas are located.
It also mentions the addition of the Glove Box, Cup Holder, matte vs gloss black dash switches, different seat memory functions, different seat belt tensioners, larger AC vents, changes to the alarm system, and PCM differences..
"Together with the integration of a new cup holder, the centre vent has also been re-designed.
The cross-sectional area has been increased by 20%, which improves interior ventilation."

PSS10 is ~ $4,500 landed. Where does the rest of the cost come from?
I've been pondering on my track run in the Turbo 3.6. I think it could benefit from the new tyres I have and maybe transplant my RUF 965 shocks to it from the C4 and go PSS10 on the C4. May also transfer the windscreen from the Turbo to the C4 and go brand new on the Turbo.

Walt, excellent, Pete and I have signed up to do this in my 996tt. Good to know that there will be at least 2 996tt's out there!
