2001 versus 2002 996 Turbo
I'm looking for an early 996 Turbo and understand there were some structural improvements to the 2002 model over the 2001 model. Are there meaningful differences between the two years, or should I ignore them? This will be a street car only.

I think the structural changes were on the non-turbo 996. Only changes I know of for the turbo is glove box, cup holders, bose sounds standard, and non-glossy buttons...
Oh and some people think they are heavier by about 60lbs, but they produced no facts, so who knows...

Structural changes were done in the normal 996 in 2002...
Turbo changes were those already listed (glove box, cup holders, bose sounds standard, and non-glossy buttons) plus the hollow wheels...

Very early 2001's had the much beloved 'warts'...front bumperettes.
Early 2001's had solid spoke wheels (easy to determine by running your hand across the back of the spoke and check for a 'groove'...also by valve stem...rubber vs metal).
There were combinations of warts with solids, warts with hollows and wart free with hollows...depending on date of production.

As an aside, the 996 C4S shared the same headlights as the 996 Turbo, as well as the same front nose (although the front splitter was different between the C4S and Turbo to compensate for the smaller rear spoiler on the C4S)
