Replacing the discs on the GT3, design911 has a few options:
OEM Brand: Front 199gbp, Rear 65gbp
Original Porsche: Front 325.94gbp, Rear 141.90gbp
Considering the cars use I don't want to scrimp, however surely the OEM rotors are also fit for purpose?
http://www.design911.com/Porsche/996...-cmo110-ct354/
Paul, what are you using?
Side note, I couldn't find anywhere except for Suncoast parts that sells GT4 rotors yet, Design911 & Pelican don't. Looks the same for 991 GT3.
Suncoast charge 75% more than Design911 for OEM 996 GT3 rotors, Macca where are you sourcing yours?

I think you are about on the mark John. One thing I would add though is that sports suspension, coilovers or otherwise, should be seen as a sweetener rather than adding significantly to the price. The buyer interest I had (albeit only a few) were as interested in originality as anything else
Many on this forum see a track advantage in updated suspension, sways, mounts, etc but many end user have different use cases for 964 which don't see these embellishments as any real value add

BTW: Interesting comment re originality. I think that will become more of a feature in prices paid. If there are parts available I’m buying now. The steering wheel was a good example. They may cost a lot but what are the other choices if it must be original?

Then I got an email saying the shipping was going to be more due to the weight... Here it comes..
Was only an extra 20 pounds

A good point Warwick. I singled out suspension as a number of 964s still appear to be rolling around on original parts e.g. the Project car with 237,000km on the odometer and I imagined most buyers would value a sports car that handled over one that didn’t. Maybe the buyer expectation is that a sorted car would have refreshed suspension as standard.

My gut feeling is originality is steadily becoming more desirable. There is even a resurgence in how D90's are being seen over the last year or so. Flags next? The worm is turning for the 964

Interesting read - Road and Track's 2017 Performance Car of the Year: http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-cult...r-of-the-year/
They reckon the Japanese are delivering cars with more feel these days, now that Porsche have caught up to them again on the electro-trickery front - but seemingly at the expense of Porsche's previous lead on feel. Hopefully reviews and competitor awards like this will kick Porsche to do something really wild, like maybe bring back a proper handbrake and PSM defeat, at least for we less litigious ROW markets.
Though it seems Porsche are not alone in sliding back, as even the crowned victor suffers from backward comparison in some of R&T's own other reviews:
"If there's compromise, you want it in the pursuit of performance, not livability. There was a time when you felt a little NSX in your Accord. Now there's too much Accord in your NSX."
http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars...x-first-drive/
If there's now that much Accord in the winning NSX, how much Passat is being baked into the next generation of Porsches?

Mmmm. Probably best to look at that again. its 187K for a car that lists with Porsche NZ at 208K prior to discount and options.
Maybe saving 35-38K over buying NZ new before discount and getting to spec yourself. Also the car listed is effectively used (2000km) and will not have the NZ 3 year warranty.
Im not sure its a stonking deal?

This was a more long term strategy for me and may not suit you......
Edit - just gaggle a good discount with Gillies or CCS.

You will know better than I Macca, but a NZ 991.2 is hard to get for under $250K (is my understanding) - you might has to run the exercise for us please if you have a lazy hour or 2 (C2S with buckets in manual, RSG spec so no unnecessary extras, sport suspension and no sunroof).

Thanks Guys,
Chris, you got the deal of the century, OEM GT3 discs are 644gbp before freight.
Walter, for some reason the Sebros only come slotted at the rear and drilled up front.
Will call race brakes tomorrow re the slotted option, on the hoist with the wheels off, caliper repaint, Final Touch has weekend work on the detail, front bumper off Wednesday for a respray, want it to look right. Fell back in love with it once the original wheels went back on.
John/Warwick, if you want an easier working height whilst doing the project car, your welcome to the hoist for a weekend, It's 2 degrees warmer on the Shore, so wear sunscreen.
Haven't read the R&T article yet, but surprised a hybrid took Car Of The Year, more surprised the Viper ACR was not there.

Have been very happy with Sebro slotteds from PelicanParts on the Turbo, and I see they do them for the GT3 too. The factory drilled originals for the Turbo crack out too fast when worked hard, as well as costing more. I had to buy an emergency pair of original Porsche fronts for the NZ Festival of Motor Racing back in February, as my Sebro delivery had been held up, but I swapped them out as soon as the Sebros arrived. I would trust Pagid too of course...

Blew through the factory OEM pads on my CR in a silly amount of time and they faded horribly. Found the factory drilled rotors were cracking more than I cared for and was in a bind and couldn't get the Girodiscs, so I replaced the rotors with Sebros and at the same time I bumped up the pads to the Ferodo DS1.11. Night and Day difference. No fade no matter how hard pressed or long the session is, and after 4 track days the Ferodo pads still look barely worn and the Sebro rotors are looking exceptional.
Rotors cost me about $540 USD for all four, and the DS1.11s were about $625 USD for both sets.
Quite thrilled with the results for the price. Now I just needs tires than can handle the braking, the Super Sports were not happy with it. Debating RE71R, Cup 2, or R888.

I looked at floating rotors too back when first looking to replace the factory ones. Can't remember the brand I checked anymore but I do recall that they recommended the hats be replaced with every second or third floating rotor if tracking them, which pretty much killed any savings on the Turbo.

Worth considering Brembo Type III rotors if it's going to be driven by you longer term. Gene at Racer Products can supply them locally, and based on my recent experience buying Hawk Performance pads (experiment for road driving) they may be cheaper to buy locally than import.

Or go mental and upgrade to CCB. From what I understand the early Porsche CCB kit is expensive and outdated. Going to a more modern kit will give better performance, longevity and is cheaper to service. http://www.racingbrake.com/RB-CCB-Sy...ccb-por-02.htm
Significant investment up front however...
