Technically I'm sure there is a way to do convert to road legal. The thing is no COC so will need to go completely via LVVC unless there is a work around. I'd budget 20k. Will need passenger seat too and road tyres for compliance.
It's possible, but not realistically possible Macca, no handbrake, indicators, replacing c/f bits with crash protection, glass etc.

The 964/993 are the last cars that were realistically possible, talking to Michael they needed a lot of help from Porsche AG with the cup car, they don't have VIN numbers etc. I think GT3 era cars are too far related from their road going cousins.

You are probably right Paul. I recall somewhere in my amnesia that the GT4 may be easier. It still retails a lot of the road car stuff like air con etc

1.2 GT3. Not instantly sold on the bumper updates over the 1.1 model.

Edit - Macca, what colour combo are you planning for your next one?

White, clubsport 003. I dont like the front and rear bumpers as much as 991.1. I think it doesn't look as good at least in the first images as the current GT3, looks a bit like a big GT4 at the front.

Here are the slides from the PAG internal Doc on GT4. The press photos show it has lights and air con.

the 2017 cup materials says price is usd 220k ? seems cheap particularly in view of the nzd 275 mentioned for gt4 clubsport.

Do you think there will be allocation potential gt3 .2 model? or all sold like previous models

GT4 base list was 85k USD plus taxes. CJ paid $145k plus air freight for the Daytona placing GT4 Clubsport IIRC. This means a 2017 GT3 cup would end up being close to 400k I should think. Most are expecting the 991.2 GT3 road car to list 10% more than the outgoing. My belief is that NZ will become s little more competitive, like they were last time to ward off Grey Market Imports. I'm expecting 290k for the base MT car. I guess some of it may depend on currency but the NZD:EURO has been relatively stable over the last few years 0.62-0.66...

PS. I expect post DieselGate there will be more 991.2 GT3 produced than ever before. 991.1 GT3 was around 3300-3500 worldwide (25-28 NZ), 991.1 GT3 RS will be 4500-5000 world wide (19-20 NZ), GT4 4500-5000 world wide (maybe 26-30 NZ). 991.1 GT3 was pre DieselGate...

If I were a betting man I'd say 5000-6000 worldwide with 30-40 allocations in NZ. Depends on local economy in 18 months time when these start to arrive en mass.

I should think there is reasonable chance of 2018 delivery if you have a relationship and get your name on a local dealer list soon...

Buba. My dream spec 991.2 GT3 would be PTS speed yellow, black Matt wheels, Clubsport spec extended leather with dash and exclusive yellow stitching. PTS is now a 12500$ option and with those other options add say $23000 to the base NZ car. PTS is practically impossible to coordinate in NZ for a RHD car as production window only opens for a tee weeks twice a year. I don't think I've seen a single NZ delivered PTS GT3/RS ever....

I need Donna to sit next to Jo at some stage. The costs of my obsession will look so reasonable in comparison

P.S. I didnt say I was going to pay 290K for a 991.2 GT3!

P.P.S. Jo is happy. She asked for a Golf and she gets a MY2017 Macan S (to her own spec) next year in June. I couldnt accept the Golf depreciation so found a way to make a Macan S work much better financially thanks to Brexit...
Get a couple of spare left hand wheels. Luckily Chris B pulled the trigger on a TM auction a while back so I can replace rather than restore the 20" inch wheels Donna kerbed.

Yip. I think I've almost over-dosed. I needed two in any case as daily drivers (GT3 for track and back road runs). Due to the long wait times I think the RS will cover daily duties till Jos car arrived mid year and then it will be sold (before the next NZ allocations arrive - so hopefully won't loose me much). That's assuming the Alfa doesn't disappoint - if it does it will go instead. I'm not in a hurry to invest in an overheated NZ housing market in 2017 so buying a few new cars We can enjoy and get out of after 18 months without much of a haircut sounds like an attractive use of equity compared to the crap yields on offer and the volatility of the markets...that's the weird logic I'm using, sit tight in the cash and enjoy a few toys till a business opportunity comes up or the property thing softens....or heck we may go live in Italy in 2028 lol!

What do you guys think of the new Panamera?

Ive never liked the Panamera. In the US in June I drove in a v8 one with Jo and we were mightily impressed. Modern day ergonomics and plenty of stonk.

Now they have done a major face lift with the 2017 Panamera and have a V6 turbo engine thats beefier than the old NA V8. 0-100 is around 4.4 which is pretty good for a 1850kg car. the interior has been completely modernized with the latest gear and a new 8 speed PDK. The exterior has been sharpened up considerably too.

These cars dont seem so popular in NZ, maybe as they are a large 4 seater, but IMO they have gone from an ugly bloat mobile to a rather svelte rocketship in the latest generation. Not sure it will affect how popular they are in NZ where 4x4 trucks seem the default choice...

Interested to know on general views for any that have taken the time to read up on the latest MY2017 next gen car - looks like they have really moved ahead here with alot of tech that will filter down into the other models in teh next few years (8spd PDK, LED lighting, touch sensor glass centre console buttons, cool three piece electrical rear spoiler, integrated navigation etc).
