The M2 is a really lovely thing but I couldn't do a third coupe and nor could I justify the spend for a beater.

Ford Australia have just announced from mid year they will be selling the Mountune phase 1 & 2 tuning kits for the Focus and these will be factory warrantied. Hopefully Ford NZ will do same by early next year. The proposed cost is very modest (think two sets of tyres for the GT3) for a 10% bump in power and a torque and a trick front diff upgrade. Might add a bit of vigour part way through ownership if it becomes dull.

Nicely set up 996 GT3 on trade me with plenty of extras. I think there were more than five imported to NZ however. Offer him 120 and it could be yours! This was the one that sat on TM for ages 2 years ago for 80k?

The Full River HC 20 battery I've had for nearly 5 years (Mr Black before Mr Blue) is suddenly giving up the ghost it would seem. Pretty fair result from this small cheap and light Chinese battery so no complaints.

Has anyone here tried fitting a LiFePo4 like the Deltran Battery Tender one DT BTL35A480C? Looks like they're available in nz though $500 (vs the $179 for the HC20); weigh 3.75lbs!!

I remember Warwick talking about fitting a lighter battery. Search the posts and you may find it.

He went for the HC20. The LifePo4 is another 5kg lighter.

What's the estimated weight saving from full battery to your new option? I also understand the lithium batteries need a special type of battery trickle charger. Is that correct?

Less beer/pies is surely a cheaper and easier approach?

Standard is around 17kg. HC20 is 7kg. The LifePO4 is less than 2kg. Staying off the beer and pies is only good for a kilo or two at best (results vary with individuals).
I know you can get a special trickle charger but not sure if it is actually any different to a standard trickle.
