2016 Targa Tasmania

1st - 2015 - 991GT3 - Matt Close
2nd - 2016 Dodge Viper ACR - Prichard
3rd - 2015 987 GT4 - Jim Richards

I've spoken to Matt Close on his cars set up and it's effectively stock other than front cage, seats, pads, fluid, muffler & geo.

The Dodge ACR is about the fastest road legal track car you can buy today, quicker than RS with 660bhp and huge downforce. 23 minutes separates the first 3 cars..,

As soon as I get the shroud back into the front wheel, and move it out of the gge. The headlight washer pump has developed a leak, at least that isnt a critical system hehe

This weekend!!

Could be a nightmare but if well sorted by Europacific then you'd expect a good run from it. Mid thirties? No idea of value but the rising 911 tide must be dragging these along.

Has had the engine changed to 5.4L from GTS so not a collectors piece but as you say a good hot rod (you may as well leave the supercharger on it as the cost to revert would be considerable). Dan has the inside skinny on this car.

I've seen the car and talked to Steve's man who's been working on it. Def leave the supercharger. Once you see the install you understand. Nice car. Grunty

that's a great achievement - he was duking it out with the White ACR and he in Lambo has been a multiple winner. Looked like maybe a second for Matt but of course -- "first you have to finish...." Just goes to show the performance potential of gt3.

Thanks Graeme. Yes the ACT Extreme engine expiry on the last day didnt help their cause!

Check out the top 7 places. The 7th car is a stock road GT3 on Trofeo co driven by a mate of mine Sebastian. It was their first targa proper in the car.

The stand out car IMO is the 2012 Renault Sport Megane RS in fourth place to Jim Richards. You can buy a 1 year old one of these on TM, NZ new with delivery KMs for 40K NZD! What alot of car for the money, throw on some Ohlins, and R comps and youll be scaring the Bjesus out of 911 turbos at RSG HD days and still beable to use it for a daily driver for low overhead and marginal depreciation...

bet that Megane is not standard engine. mind you probably not that expensive to crank up the power a bit (or a lot). Agree a lot of car for the money. Probably a bigger relative advantage on Targa then on track with this type of car where agility pays off. Went past the McLaren and Lambo shops in Shanghai today - nice gear in there.

I know it's pretty hard to believe Graeme but I believe the car was fundamentally stock drivetrain engine wise with upgrades only to suspension and brakes and even then modest! It's was an RS265 Cup road car base similar as you can buy for 45k, I believe showroom class in 2013 when first entered. Suspension and Rotors/pads..?
