^^^that looks like pretty good buying. I assume that is the Vauxhall / Opel GM plant in there. I bought my wife a near new Alfa 159 2.2 black / tan, lovely, which shares this lump thinking that at least the engine will be well sorted but then to go through two sets of timing chains because of stretch in short order under warranty at 3k a time blew that theory. Affected most models of GM product that used that set up. Single row chain apparently couldn't hack it.

Incredible value when you think the stock turbo 2.0 can be purchased 30k and for $1800 remapped to 250 BHP and block the socks off anything lotus produced till the exige.

Better yet this 2.2 can be bought for 22k and for 8k the supercharger kit (the engine was supplied supercharged from GM for some other models) can be bought and fitted making this a 240 BHP lightweight Porsche killer. Need to factor 2k for enlarged radiator and charge cooler.

Working it out compared to Tony Playdays lotus which I've passengers in at Taupo & HD and have asked plenty about, it makes 240 BHP but is a but heavier than the VX220 I should think on sticky rubber you are looking at 1.16s HD. Tony says a set of tyres last him 12 track days and brakes/pads estimates 30-40 based on current wear! For 40k investment insurance isn't so much if an issue so you can run it at Playdays normal group, uncles and the fortnightly testing days at Taupo & Manfield.

I believe it's a really compelling formula. If in NZ I would hesitate and would use one of these as my track day car.

Still love the oldies.

RSG giving Steve a warm welcome on his first track day. Nothing like a friendly escort around a corner from three other cars...

Hi everyone, I am thinking about selling my 996TT - with the new baby I have done less than 1000km in the last 9 months and I feel a bit bad about having it sitting around. I have done quite a bit of maintenance on it as I had planned to keep it for a while. I know you all don't like to talk about price, but any idea what it's worth? 2003 TT, MT, Silver, 65km

I try to :-P

For most of us though I think it's a bi-annual undertaking

Sounds like a nice example. NZ new? Assuming the interior is not green I think you'd put it on for 85 and look seriously at offers 75-80k. Someone on TM felt his was worth 125k for a few minutes, now below 100 but I'm guessing it won't change hands much over 80k. You can buy a (tipo) 2007 under 100 if you haggle and they are ultimately the better car. All IMO.

Steve, we'd love you to join us for SITT 2018. Teretonga and levels are great tracks that suit the 993 well. Maybe even the NITT one year which is an annual fixture. Manfield & Taupo aren't so far from WTGN where I'm sure you could park her up during the week...

I'd love to get to SI more regularly but jo&I do like to explore overseas regularly. Can't do everything I'm afraid...

Enrolled to do the PCNZ drivers day at Highlands in May, so hopefully my green horns will diminish. Definitely got the bug, and will look at more participation

Mark, Savantx's 996tt is a silver one, ceramic brakes, nz new. I think you looked at it on behalf. Saw it in Ponsonby last week, it's a nice example.

Savantx, I sold my 01 tip for 60-65k (cant remember), was NZ new with around 75k. It sold within a couple of days, there was two buyers waiting if the first deal fell through, may have been slightly cheap but it made a clean deal.

I remember the original ask price, you have done coolant pipes and a few other bits I recall, being an 03, manual, 65kms, I would get OCD or Final Touch to detail, take some good photos, if presented nicely (no front lip scrapes, working spoiler) I would ask 80k firm.

It feels good to have contributed something to mankind. My word "lesboid" will slowly become part of our daily vernacular....by year 2050 I should think if Logans Run or Blade Runner don't get us first.

Here are the images you get when you google "lesboid New Zealand". Sorry about the Porsche content!

Or even 'lesbotic' by the looks of that address bar. Nice to see you've already released your sentient gingerbread line of them!
