Cool moment in the first race at Taupo this morning - new track record for Porsche - Matt Whittaker ran a 1.29.9. That was after a red flag restart where he'd run a 1.29.7 according to race monitor.
And while it resulted in a time penalty for breaking out, Michael Neville ran a 1.39.8 in his 944. That's a stunning time!

My Spin in the Last Session on the Day
Last session of the day at Highlands, Justin a friend from my biking track days comes for a ride. Mark and Richard decide I should go first. At the end of the first lap we encounter the last cars from the previous session. Then two good laps and a spin. First two minutes is a conversation with Justin, which you may want to skip, Spin is around 9min 40, but i was getting ragged a few turns back and should have backed off....

Yikes!
Just goes to show that being able to generate pretty 3D models doesn't guarantee good design. Some would even say it inhibits it.
How did this pass muster as a final year engineering project?

Walt. I dont bother analyzing what I could have done to correct my spins. Most are in the wet and Im a realist so I know Im pretty much along for the ride. I think they biggest learning I take from them is what I should have done to prevent the spin from happening in the first place (like dont drive around a track in the pouring rain in a 475bhp RWD car is a good start!) :-)
Great stuff Pete. 1.40 is super quick. I dont think I could achieve better than that in my GT3 with the S complex entry crash barrier removed. Seriously fast. Was it a 944?
Nice find David. what a sweet little thing. Doubt youll see another like it again.

Targa sold pretty much according to my pricing matrix and prediction. The paint was inferior to an average example but $43,000 is fair.

Beautiful though, an Alfa version of a Singer. There is a big future here with resto mods. I've probably got one myself - an older car with newer, faster, more reliable bits underneath.
