Only 24hrs to go!
A bit more than 24 hours but no need to split hairs. I fully expect the Auction to be pulled as I have made it clear to Brian that I'm no longer a buyer.

Just working with the vendor to stabilize the Auction. Others have viewed the car and know its condition. Apparently they are interested to buy. A wholesale withdrawal of bidders could give an unfair appearance that there is something materially wrong with the car. I was driven around the block and it seemed fine. What put me off was the chasm between where I am with Herman and the reality of driving a lesser example. In my hands this could well be a money pit as I would have trouble stopping myself e.g. The engine tin is corroded. The only way to deal with that is drop the engine. The fan is not new it's a painted used one. Some internal ***** are missing. Nothing major, just too far away from where I am with Herman. It would be fine for someone else, just not someone who has already spent $000s on small parts to make his car closer to perfect.

I should clarify what I mean by stabilize. I asked for my bids to be removed as I considered my bidding over when the top bid above me was placed. When it was removed I thought I was sorted but for some reason some of my bids remained.

I advised the seller to withdraw the auction and deal privately with the people who had already viewed it and expressed interest. As he said he would do that I have not gone back to remove all of my bids. Rest assured I will not be the top bid at 8:27pm on Sunday if the auction remains.

Btw this has really put me off Tardme. No real protection for anyone. My name is worth far more to me that this.

Freudian slip in that the Tron isn't a nice place?

I cant vouch for the accuracy of this but it shows Taupo average temp vs Auckland Precipitation annually. Across the year on average the cumulative difference is Taupo is 4C colder and rains 107mm less...

4C is a lot, especially over Winter. Might have to rethink the weather comment.

Good day at the track today. It stayed dry but was very hot from 11am onwards hitting 26C. Good to see a few regulars out there (Nate, The Mitchells, Roger S, Leong, Jeff D etc). I ran through my tyres (heat cycled out entirely by first session with fronts at wear bars) and pads (just made it through - 6 full track days on new $500 OEM pagids - will have to move to PFC11 next as 6 full track days isnt exactly stella). Tyres were very slippery all day with very limited front end grip and large under-steer on entry, over-steer on exit. I could break traction in T2, over the hill, B51, T10 and T1! No PB total but a 13.22 rolling lap and a number in the mid 13s - actually quite frankly I was surprised to even manage that, the car was an absolute handful and the worst handling I have yet experienced in the car. The 800k of hard fought track days in the SITT + 5000 road Kms had clearly taken their toll on the rubber. I got a 5th day from them but in reality I should have done as Leong did and thrown them out.

Looking forward to Wednesday but first have to find someone to fit the old used OEM pads I have and the new tyres on Tuesday. Will be calling a few favours!

I think Racing Ray is coming out on Wed morning.

Does anyone want to do some DT with him?

Usual deal I am guessing.

I'm in for DT. In Kerikeri for the weekend, great B roads to get up here, and fantastic weather. Is a pity the tourist throughput isn't high enough and that you'd have to travel through Auckland to get anywhere, as it's a stunning part of the country. And the B roads are fantastic!

Guys - I don't think RR is confirmed. Steve is happy to spend some time doing DT but I'm not sure if he has managed to speak to RR or confirm availability yet.
