Stayed at Hamner Springs yesterday good to have some sun and 25c. This morning met David in Waiau and did the windy route to Kaikoura. Off to see the whales now, spectacular day! Obligatory white whale photo courtesy Jo...

David gave me the controls to his car for an hour. Pretty original stock 993 with a chip, mufflers and some updated shocks and bushes. Rides really tight for mileage and age, frankly it's all the 911 you ever need on these roads and he should be chuffed...

Auctually I have no personal experience to draw on. After June I will be able to comment with more authority on Daytona & Sebring but in the meantime I drawn only from having watched many many in car track videos from my homies on the 991 GT3/4 boards from tracks such as Road America, Sebring, Laguna Seca etc. The more popular tracks over there appear to be 2 miles minimum, often 3 with at least two 130 mph straights and a minimum of two 70-80 mph sweepers and additional high speed "flip flops" and many with fairly flat elevation (but a couple with some extreme cork screws).
A number of North American racers visiting NZ tracks have commented how much front negative camber we run on our race 911s in NZ. It's not unusual to see -3.5 plus front on a cup car here which is indicative of the roll over our tight tracks can induce...

964 Tipo Coupe sold at $52,500 in 24 hours as well. As much as this is a love/hate exercise I feel like having a stab at 964 prices. The 993 owners can do their own!
Asia new:
The above assumes:
That would put Herman at $65,000 (but not for sale ever). Lola at $80,000 etc.
Now bring on the debate!
BTW I think rust puts a $10,000 cat in amongst the pigeons as does an engine needing a top end rebuild.
Asia new:
- Tipo Coupe ~ $50,000
- C4 Coupe ~ $60,000
- C2 Coupe ~ $70,000
- NZ New add $5,000
- UK new deduct $5,000
- Cab deduct $10,000
- Targa deduct $5,000
- Sports suspension add $5,000.
- LHD deduct $5,000.
The above assumes:
- Good paint job - absolutely no rust
- Good wheels - no rim scrapes
- Exterior plastic in good shape including lights.
- Maintenance up to date, everything works except air con.
- No value in engine / box rebuild unless higher mileage
That would put Herman at $65,000 (but not for sale ever). Lola at $80,000 etc.

Had brief discussion with Mark on Saturday about insurance value - he named a $figure, I said something like bullsh-t. This has me thinking he was correct. Don't really like "value discussions" - the ruin of many threads. Interested in the cars, driving & problem solving (when need arises)

Insurance value is a good reason to discuss as is the sale expectations of marketed cars, especially when the car turnover and mod discussions have all but dried up. Is anyone doing anything anymore?
