GLA or A45 AMG worth a look. Not the big ***** V8 stuff but incredibly fast and sure footed.

I need to get an extinguisher for the GT3.

Those of you with 996/7's - where did you source your extinguishers from?

Sounds like good news if supply is a good as the old r888s. May ask Steve to see what he can find out re timing. In the meantime I have no idea what to put on the Cayman once the current 221's ex John are gone.

Bought mine from Steve R and Race Brakes at HD. Both mount to front seat bracket. Steve will know the GT3 fitment.

Just had a read about that supercharged 911, very interesting, too hard for the road, sounds not quite right for the track, 1200kg wet, I wonder how much the supercharger etc weighs, I think the 930 is 1280kg from memory.

I really like it though, would love to have a look, he seems like an honest vendor, hopefully someone within our group picks it up.

1380kg according to Wiki for the 930.

Thanks Chris. The B7 seems very good value. Ill try and hunt a test drive in a e92 M3 sedan manual as it could provide a nice middle ground. They seem a pretty scarce beast and prices are fairly slid from what I can tell. Plenty of time luckily...

Herman moves, rumbles, growls as the revs rise and pops when changing gears. Just a WOF, alignment and shakedown to go.

Yes only 4 door need apply. M3 I hear good things about. B7 sedan seem easy to find but reviewers have them typically third place in company of the other two (steering and lack of playfulness of 4WD chassis come to mind). The e60 was a contender due to the outrageous v10 but seems older cars can be a minefield. 40-50k buys you fair examples of earlier models of all three. Oil looks like it will stay repressed for the next 12 months so it would seem a good time to enjoy the dying breed of larger capacity NA engines like the legendary M156 6.2 Merc unit....
Really these are all great options that is the amazing thing. The M3, C63 and RS4 all handle well, have epic engines and look good in my eyes. Also the V10 M5 is one of the best engines ever made. I don't think you could go too far wrong with any of them, although I'd say the biggest risk is that with any of them if you get unlucky maintenance could be very spendy. That is the downside with great engines, the chance they have not been looked after and they don't like that.

Thanks Stuart. What you say is entirely true. Many of these great NA engines can be very expensive to put right if they go wrong.

The e60 M5 is definitely on the shortlist. However it would need to be NZ new with moderate kms and great history. Having run an e39 M5 as a DD for a number of years I am quite favourable to the M5.

Today I spent part of the day with this rarity. E500 (Porsche fettled). Believed to be possibly the only one in NZ. If anyone is interested it may be in the block sometime in 2916/7.

I daily drive my 993 to work back in 2000-2002 and loved it. I've been DD the GT3 a bit now so happy to use a 911 daily. Probably should just buy a cheap e60 530d as a shopping mall car.....

Amazing work John, you must be very satisfied. What happened about the alternator issue?

Daniel from EP was full of admiration for what you'd taken on and achieved. He said there's no way he would have attempted what you've done in a home garage, and he obviously knows the cars pretty well.
