Fair call, and was thinking of the valet more as just getting someone else to hose the mud off. So understand Jake's reticence. If she's looking an OCD million just now though, there's always the PCNZ Christmas Party Concours d'Elegance to target.

On the brighter side, not much worry about the usual stone chips, molten track rubber and magnetic walls in the middle of a gymkhana paddock.

For a standing km event, I've checked on at least 30 private airports across the top half of the North Island but they all top out at about 700m runway length (many only around 400-500m, some shorter). Thames is an exception but that one is still too short for stopping distance, being 1100m with a shallow sewage pond at the end. Whitianga's is capable of being lengthened to 1400m so that may hold promise one day. I've previously put out feelers about running speed events on yet to be commissioned stretches of motorway but got the impression that the roading authorities wouldn't see them as a publicity win.

Not my cup of tea, but if hes happy thats the main thing.
Perfectly said - 100% agreed.

He has totally missed the mark - an assembly of expensive bits and misses that sense of craftsmenship and bespoke consideration - might need to stick to long-hoods.

^^^ harsh - I know.............

Looks like my ex-993 will be selling for close to Max's asking price - I have had 2 lenghtly calls with people who some here will know who see it's value at north of a hundie and just getting their heads around the little bit more to get to $120K.

John. I find the front bumper with splitter treatment on the Magnus 964 too heavy handed. Yours will look much better. It may partially be due to colour.

I really like what Doug has done with his splitter and black brake intakes.

Seans 964 IMO is the best looking local 964 Ive seen. Massaged rear fenders, great stance and 18" 3 piece wheels, some nice subtle custom pieces (CF red woven Cup style side mirrors etc). Its not guards red either but a darker Audi red IIRC.

I don't think I've seen a full side on shot yet. The splitter may balance out the tail from that angle.

I think I've 'invested' 3 or 4 days of work on my splitters so far. I'm reasonably happy with the outcome. The real test will come when they are back on the car. I have no sense right now how perfect/polished they need to be to pop.

I agree with your view on Sean's car, although maybe I'd change the wheels and remove the RS decals. The colour is an Audi one.

Not like you to leave money on the table, although good to hear that the money put into the re-spray, suspension etc is recognised by the market.

Its a mind set isn't it - put it out there and slowly people come around.

A lesson learned...........

Yes, very much a mind set. I suspect that future enjoyment of a cared for but non-refurbed 964 is all but impossible for me now as I see flaws which I didn't before. Maybe the buyers of your 993 have the same affliction?

It's not the gymkhana format, but rather the rough and broken nature of runway Juliet that does it. You're driving part on, part in, a super abrasive surface. My brand new Sumis went from 10mm to just under 8mm of tread, losing over a quarter of their life and looked exactly like they'd been cheese grated.
Whenuapai is the same.

120K NZD (52K GBP) is highish UK money for a car that's in NZ. Personally I don't think your old car is worth that and I think someone would have to be market blind to pay it especially when a top $$$ respray car which was uber tidy/original sold only weeks ago from this board for just under 90k.

Jamies still struggling in the late 70s with a freshly repainted and tastefully upgraded LHD Varioram C2 6 speed which must make it a friggin bargain!

I guess we will see. Makes 964s look damn good value IMO. Id pay 65K for a nice 964 C2 over 120K for a freshly painted 993 C2 6 speed any day of the week and Im a 993 fanboy!

Yes John, Id remove the RS script too. I like 3 piece wheels.

The first time those splitters grind out you are going to wince John. lets hope Herman returns to the track with Mojo. Its built to be driven, paint is easy can be done anytime in future they are still making it etc

They are now even prettier than this image so a bit reticent to hear the first hit albeit hopefully it will be under the car and not the type of damage I fixed on the front edge (other photo)

I won't lie, getting out on the track for the first time will be a bit nervous, but the minute another air cooled car is in my sights that will go out the window

Agreed - I'd much rather have a 7.2 C4S and $20K in the bank.

Or a GT3 - even at today's money........

What about hiring the Meremere drag strip? Too costly?

You'd think Armstrong's could tell the difference between an auto and manual aye. Nice car. I swear I won't own another black car after 10 years with one though.

Dave, disappointed the T won't make it to HD on Dec 12 (RSG event page). I'll have to make do with just the other 964s
