Edit - not that I was complaining - solved the turn in quite nicely.
You guys need to do a bulk order with them?

I think the issue is that the importer isn't bringing them in often. The set of 18" I bought for the R were the last in stock then. Probably easier to bring in Aus tyres by boat.

Toyo R888R will be here soon and the new track tyre for 17/18"
Anyone driven or owned C63 AMG? Took a 2013 for a spin yesterday and must say the 6.2 is a magnificent engine. The sound of that thing on the gas! Could think of worse DD cars. In the 50k bracket the only contenders seem to be e92 M3 & B7 RS4...

I drove a 2013 I think, about 18 months ago. For the amount of DD you you do in NZ I'm sure you'll love it. Never driven an M3 but if I was looking at those three, a four door one would be at the top. Driven a few B7 & B8 RS4s, a nice B7 may be hard to find now? Also only manual obviously.

Yes only 4 door need apply. M3 I hear good things about. B7 sedan seem easy to find but reviewers have them typically third place in company of the other two (steering and lack of playfulness of 4WD chassis come to mind). The e60 was a contender due to the outrageous v10 but seems older cars can be a minefield. 40-50k buys you fair examples of earlier models of all three. Oil looks like it will stay repressed for the next 12 months so it would seem a good time to enjoy the dying breed of larger capacity NA engines like the legendary M156 6.2 Merc unit....

Yes. Good looking tyre. I spoke to someone who tested it already. Said its light years ahead of the R888 and going to be very popular once it's widely available. Good figment choices to for 911s etc up to 19". I don't think it will make NZ till late 2016....

Posting from a cellphone, its personal preference but:
C63, Except for the command system and being a bit loud for DD I couldn't fault. Felt like a tank & RWD which I liked.
RS4, Manual box & Seats, I'm in and out of a DD so any decent bucket doesn't work. The B8 RS4 seems to have softened a bit as the seats aren't buckets and the transmission is S tronic, more town friendly.
Audis seem to date better than Mercedes though, a new C63 has been released. Generally makes the previous model look a bit dated.
The RS4 comes third in most reviews but with two 911s are you worried about how an RS4 goes at the limit?

As much as I love Manual for driving I concede auto is better for town work. The E93 M3 sedan in Manual is still on the list but I havent driven on yet to comment. I did own a Audi RS2 Avant for a while as a DD and the MT was one of its weaknesses in DD senario.
The 2011 onwards C63 comes with a much better box and infotainment system. They do look a bit boxy and tank like but i quite like the muscular styling.
f course when the price of fuel goes up the 6.2 V8s will all get ditched due to running costs in a DD situation!
