LSD appears to be functioning fine. Never got out of first gear or any pictures but had a lot of fun.

Car was surprisingly predictable on the edge and started to keep up with the newer car on the last run. I think learning handbrake turns is worth more than moving to newer technology.

Jamie. This is one of the best 3.3 964T in NZ from my observation. I was asked to give advice on it when in HK and at that time it was a superlative example.

I still maintain these are the most undervalued 964 variant and will be great long term investments. 70K ask for this car is very reasonable indeed (assume maybe 65K with some haggling). Unbelievable for the money.

This one would be a great example to buy...

Glad to hear it was a lot of fun. My observations from the limited experience I have of these events is a well set up 2wd 964/993 driven with some gusto should be able to deal with the majority of modern machinery. The challenge are the Cayman & Boxster S cars with pdk, mid engine'd, better balance and optimal torque control (second gear launch in PDK). Id like to try one again some time. The wet handling circuit probably adds a whole new element...

This takes the over steering award! I think we have an EVO journalist in our midst!

A few more of the group and Ray & Paul looking (rightfully) scared!

I can also report that Hankook 221s are the least appropriate tyre irrespective of whether the course is wet or dry! Bad move keeping them on.

You're right re the Cayman's and Boxters - Geoff Sarney won this round - was really smooth all day. Car of the day was a lovely Cayman R imported from the UK - stunning.

I drove against Geoff at the Parade Gymkahana. He has a yellow Cayaman right? I have drinks with him occasionally with the Milford Cruising Club and he seems a nice guy.

Good advice regards the Hankooks. No good for Gymkhana especially in NZ winter. I suspect they need some good heat in them to work in the dry and are naturally limited by design in the wet.

Yep - Geoff was on our March HD trackday and has the yellow Cayman. There's definitely a different art to gymkhana driving - you could spot the experienced guys who could flick the cars around at will.

Awesome day on Sunday chaps at HD, very nice to meet those of you who were there. Car is still sitting on the lawn ready for the big wash up tomorrow - still raining on the way back to Taupo today and heaps of (new) roadworks!
Got lots of Gopro footage which the family will enjoy seeing and very interesting looking at the gps data - not that, ahem, I was timing of course...

Good to see some of you again, despite the morning weather it was a great day. The car's feeling a bit nicer after being sorted out by Peter Alder. I suspect I need to experiment with tyre pressures and driving more aggressively as the fronts weren't getting much heat in them. What sort of times did you record, Matt?

I've just gone ahead and ordered a set of track wheels and some Performance Friction pads (06s for the fronts and 01s for the rears) from Design911.

Still waiting on them. Maybe another month away. Had to be specially made in that compound for 964. Went for MX72
