OK - car is understeering and first failure is the front wheels sledging slightly - still turns in very fast compared to the 993............

Just at the limit - front goes first........

Haha - so what is it! A few gt3's out there today - just mostly in the car park. The 996.1 that hung around on trade me forever was there - would have loved to see it in full flight.

Paul - yours looks and sounds awesome - will be great to see how you feel after a few solid trackdays. The clutch felt good - next time I'll take it further than 10m to move up in the slalom line!

I agree with Macca again, if you have the money, a modern GT3 is a 1 car does all solution. The 997's/991's are a little more road friendly, but I don't find my car too uncompromising on the road.
Paul. But make sure you don't go too far until you've tried it with decent heat in those Trofeo R and played with the pressures. Everyone says how sensitive they are to pressure - much less pressure you need than you suspect at least in the track. They also take a bit more work to get to operating Temps I'm told but are progressive once the go over the top.

My first change would be pressures and getting some decent heat in the tyres then softening up the front roll bar. That's what it's there for! Firm up the rear if it's still not enough.

Remember the natural state of the 911 is under steer. The latest GT3 dials it out a lot with wider rubber, suspension and PASM.

I wouldnt muck around with toe angles until you have done above IMO...isn't it a shame it can't go like a 996 GT3 and look like a 993 :-) Thanks for paying SITT.... Doug. Really like that front splitter mate. I've seen that design before and the only one I really like on the 964. Well done, looks really good!!

Yep - dried out nicely mid afternoon.

Amazing how it has changed over the years - only a handful of old school machines and a ton of modern metal. Good to see (almost) every iteration of turbo - 930, 964 3.3, 993TT, 996, 997, 991 - only missing a 964 3.6 for the full set.

Sorry Jason but Mr Black was a highlight for me - immaculate!

Take some consolation from the fact that it was largely the RSG/Rennlist crowd in the older cars. We'll hang out for longer - till they're all too valuable to take on track.

Porsche NA site has live coverage from the factory team. Reddit has a list of the other available options.

Anyone planning to head to Conti's tomorrow to watch on big screen? 10-4 I think - nice way to kill a few hours.

That's heartening! I would like to bring the 993 back into track service in the next few years. Unfortunately the Gt3 power has corrupted me so I'd like to bump the engine up a bit before then - sort it out the tuning once and of all. Maybe drop a further 20kg to get it under 1300kg wet. All the 993 is missing is some torque and power - the chassis is more capable than I am and it's as quick in the corners as anything I've driven just lacks the oomph out of them. It stops well too and it's comparatively light on consumerables such as pads and discs- and they are a lot cheaper than GT3/4....in the meantime I think the old girl will see only an occasional Ron Sunday Run as I squeeze as much value out of the GT3 as I can...

Great tips Pete! I'll drop into Contis if I can get away. Meantime I hunted down some of those streams:

http://www.porsche.com/international...livestreaming/

http://www.dailymotion.com/lemans-tv

and what looks to be Radio Le Mans: http://direct.sharp-stream.com/radioshow.mp3

There will likely be better ones out there too...

Someone nominate a time PM and I'd be in for an hour at CCS.
Yes, Mr Black with a boob job looking and sounding spectacular. If only he'd had bigger hips. Pleased he went to a good home Warwick.
Great day today. Thanks Paul for your part on organising it.
Thanks Pete for the instructions and Chris for the hex keys. Phil for the banter. Great to meet Pel too; wicked 930.
Good times.

Paul, think I saw your GT3 heading north on the Motorway around Papakura around 5pm? I was heading south and saw a 996.2GT3 heading north. You won't have spotted me, I was in a Ford Focus
