Dave is a much more clever sale man than we gave him credit for. Better yet he injects multiple hosts then denys them the antidote for an lengthy but undefined period to ensure the sickness is well progressed by the time the antidote is made available. Its a smart approach LOL!. Just have to hope the hosts dont die of fatigue and start reverting to other antedotes in the meantime...

Doug is new to old skool so hes doing it backwards. Paul, & Myself are like you John and Pete, we started with long 10+ year relations with the older girls now we are dating younger girls as we get older. Its the way it should be LOL!
I think I was in denial too long. If I had have stayed in NZ the last decade Im sure the 993 would have been moved on at some stage (before the "big mod spend" maybe) and I would have circulated into a newer vehicle probably a 7 GT3.
IMO the answer is One Ride to rule them all One Ride to find them, One Ride to bring them all and in the darkness bind them....
Seriously, although I never understood it at the time I suspect Pete has the right approach. One car use it for everything everyday learn every folly and have it woven as fabric in your life. Want to take the kids to soccer use the 4x4. I dont need to deal with work traffic and I don't mind a slightly firmer sportier ride and folding bucket seats (at least while I can still get into and out of them) so a GT3/RS could fill that space (particularly the PDK equipped model).
John, the R will depreciate in NZ. The 964 will not recover you the investment that i can see (you are like me too far ahead of the market curve ball here and your car like mine is no longer pristine and needs cosmetic work to get it presentable again). The 3.6T was a stroke of luck.
Whatever you do it will be the right decision for you. Cant help but think how simple life would be with fewer cars that do more but there are always compromises.

Perhaps we could swap for a week, Donna could drive the red cayman with good stereo and comfy seats and realise the Gti could go after all....

I can see your angle, however one of the reasons the GTI is 'safe' is because it'a 'acceptable' to be seen parked at a decile one school. The Cayenne was rejected because of that reason. I can't see a Cayman making it past the gate. Heck, I'm not sure how the R gets past bank muster. Maybe it's because there is a noisy Red 991 GT3 in the building as well.

And therein lies our need for more offsite storage space for the car collection overflow that's occurring as discussed previously. Macca has his two cars, John you don't want to sell any of your cars and the RSG 2k cup cars. This keeps coming up but we don't have a solution yet. I've also had this discussion with my brother in-law. He is going through the same dilemma. Lives inner city and is shortly going to have to find a solution for his toys and his current space is expiring.
Yes first world problems indeed

Here's some 'Bobbi heels' for Bubba too.........
John - if you have the faster car, it's all the more rewarding (if) I beat you :-)
On choosing which cars are best or most suitable etc. My view on life is there are lots of cars I want to own at some stage, I can't afford to own them all at once, so will swap them out from time to time. My current thinking is the 993 may get traded out for a 308/328/355 Ferrari in a year or two? These cars are really static displays now, so I can't imagine owning one for too long, but life is short and lots of boxes to tick.........
P.s. - I saw Bob M today and can confirm he is alive and kicking, and stalking us...........
I told him he was being anti-social (like 993 x 2 Mike)

RE Garaging. For years I have tried to figure out a way to get pensioners with empty garages and car guys requiring storage together. Its gotta a win/win with both parties. Cheap rent for car guys, and pensioners making a bit of money on they side?
