Well Doug, the weather didn't entirely cooperate, but it reinforced the fact that air-cooled cars are great for B roads, it's just a matter of keeping the pace constant within the group. I'm looking forward to East Cape in Herman.

Short hood Sunday. Not bad for a Targa with sugar scoops and cookie cutters

Just a quick note of thanks to the guys on here that put yesterday together, was great to put a few more names to faces.

Really enjoyed the arvo track stuff, pretty keen to do more, enjoyed the 930 but unsure weather I want to constantly beat it like that, will to stay in a manual though. The Caymans looked good out there, really warmed to the shape.

Not sure if could have more fun, pants on or off! Will be signing up on the next playday for sure.

Jason, nice to meet you, your 3.3 is VERY nice.

Default Any Rennlisters from New Zealand?

More info on coolant line fixes for those with GT 996/997 cars - my recent leak was due to one of the elbow pipes mentioned on the site linked, but after dropping the engine i found all three have been seeping to some degree (minor, but clearly happening for a while) and one of the metal fittings slipped out when touched. I'm replacing the three elbows with the Sharkwerks kit, and having the fittings pinned.

Well done on joining the 'pipes done' club.

In other news, Earl Bamber and Brendan Hartley running 1 and 2 at Le Mans in their 919s with just over 2 hours to go. Go Kiwis!

And that's how those cars finally crossed the line. A Porsche one-two and the first time Le Mans has had a kiwi winner since Chris Amon and Bruce McLaren did it with their GT40 back in '66 (with a Kiwi in second then too - Denny Hulme's GT40).

I've never watched or listened to so much sport in one day - great work guys (and from the rest of the Porsche team too, including Earl's winning co-drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Nick Tandy!). The third 919 finished a creditable fifth behind two Audis so a great showing, with the hybrids taking over where the '98 GT1 left off.

Also nice to see the Dempsey 911 RSR make the podium iin the GTE Am class, even if second to a Corvette.

And don't forget Mitch Evans 2nd in LMP2. They were 14th in class after the first hour and slowly worked their way up the field through the race - only 48sec back at the end.

Pretty amazing drive by Bamber - rookie driver in the race and a win first up. Has been an awesome few years for him. Hope the trans-tasman relations in the #17 team have been repaired - not sure if the penalty ultimately cost them the race - think they would still have been 2nd.

^^^ Yes amazing weekend for kiwi's in motor racing.

Was a bit gutted with the VERY average coverage of kiwi's winning Le mans for the first time since 1966.

Agree, I was about to send a text to TVNZ, but they managed to get in a minute long clip on it before the news so I didn't bother. Hopefully, there will be more on the news tonight if there isn't a more important pre prepared 'give a little' linked story up.

Yes, only Paddon got a deserved mention on the radio on my morning drive. The media do prefer their food pre-chewed though. Maybe Porsche was slow getting the info out here in NZ, or didn't weight the local angle enough - and the drivers' managers are probably still celebrating or sleeping (Mark Webber anyway).

Here's hoping the evening news does it justice.
