Sorry Diana, Had a look back at my timeline and can't see it now. But there's one more good pcar stuff there since I last looked. I think someone had posted the link on air cooled nz or something like that.

Talk to Pete about what he did to his old car, it was an excellent set up for several $K. That car (now Gary's) is so easy to drive fast. Get some 221's and LOTS of DT and track days. This will set you back $10K over the next 12 months - plus another $10K when you break things you didn't realise were tired on your car.
Seat and harness are nice ideas - but will set you back $5K.
Wouldn't worry about any more mod's until you are doing 1.19's........... as all the improvements will be in your driving skills.........
Automobile Association and my Porsche
I only use official dealers for pre-purchase inspections so can't comment there, but they've done a good job of my WOFs the last 5 years. Only thing there is that you're supposed to get 20c a litre off your next fill at BP after using them but that's only happened once. Can't help wondering if they're loading that onto their own or a mate's card instead, but they'd probably get more use from it anyway.
The main thing I really rely on them for though are flatbed rescues, hence my anger on Tuesday. Lucky they called me first the next day to refund me the money.
They've twice done a brilliant job of getting me back into my car after she locked herself with the keys inside. Once at midnight after a mate's birthday party where the keys stayed in the trunk after my togs came out of it. I had just realised and lunged for a door handle when I heard her lock down.
The other time was in the middle of a scorching summer day in the Rainbow's End carpark. Had my three year old son in the car when I popped out of the driver's seat to collect a TradeMe item off someone. Turned out we knew each other and we talked on a minute or two - long enough for her to lock with the keys in the ignition and my son strapped into his childseat with the sun beating down. We had taught him not to touch the door handles so there was no way I could get him to open it up from inside. I called the AA and told them it was urgent but also scoured the parking lot and found the steel backing strip from a window wiper. Won't go into details but almost had it open when the AA arrived and got me in. Another 5 or so minutes and we'd have been breaking a window otherwise!
Conti's tried to reprogram it to stop it autolocking but it still does it, at least for the trunk.
It's not that easy to break into a 996 so for that night rescue they had to send a specialist from the North Shore an hour down to Pukekohe. When I call them I do help them get it right by making it very clear that it's a Porsche so has special needs!
Tuesday night, the towie had to use his extra ramp extensions for the first time in a long time as the car - never mind the front splitter -
were never going to roll up the normal ramps without bulldozing.
At hundreds of dollars for a tow, even from near Auckland, my membership has proven to be money well spent so far.
Maybe I've just been lucky with them? Moochier, how did they manage to do so much damage to your two?

I've had someone approach me to buy my 993 and although its not for sale and there's no guarantee the guy would buy it I'm mildly embarrassed to say this is rather tempting http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=880016108
However the interiors are ugly and the last time I strayed away from the P-Car family I regretted it.
It sure would be a blast though!

Interesting responses over here https://rennlist.com/forums/996-turb...o-a-996tt.html
Macca's known me for a while and thinks GT3 and he's right in that they will hold their value better. I have a couple of things against me. I don't want to go into debt (and a GT3 will cost more coin) and there's no good ones for sale. Although I'm not in any rush. I also love the 993 and don't want to regret the day I sold it.

That would certainly stand out! I was at Hard Park in Lower Hutt a few weekends back and this one- with the plate 'G0BLER'- was there. The crowd that gathered around it at different times was hilarious. I used to love the TV show 'Viper' back in the mid 90s.

Interesting that you mention Southwards as they are a customer of mine and were in picking up some product on Saturday. I knew they had the Viper and they said to pop down and check it out. They also purchased a Lamborghini Diablo Roadster and a half a dozen other cars but probably best I don't mention what they are yet. We had a really interesting discussion though around what they look for, how they purchase etc etc.
For those that are interested too- I forget who originally posted the link on here but thank you- I'm going up to the Ferrari Cavalcade for GICI on Sunday. I won the auction for the ride in the 599- the LaFerrari went for $2,200! They've said the cars will be on display between 9am and 10am at CCS Ferrari for a gold coin donation entry. Can't have been many times two laFa's plus the Enzo, F50, F40 & 288 GTO have been on display together in the world.
I think Matt had issues with the top mounts he used, rennline? A bit of engineering was required to get it all to go together. My bill for fitting, plus re-bushing the wishbones (not including the purchase of the power flex bushes thru Steve R), alignment and replacing the brake fluid was under $1200.
I think you need to be on Ron's VIP list.
Racer
I know them up there too. Exciting times ahead for them for sure.
