Default Newbie here in Hamilton

Hi, thought I'd bump this thread since I'm here... just bought a N/A 944 last week, first Porsche after an honourable long line of Japanese cars (which I've nothing against at all - just sayin'!).

The '44 will be a weekender, and the daily will be my Subie GT30.

only real way is for a gst registered co in Aus buy a car as stock, claim the gst and then export the car. In order for you to get that gst back you would need to have an invoice to that co for 'something'
Of course gst payable here on landed cost inc purchase price, duty (if any), and freight..
Thanks Phil, so probably a bit more to it than meets the eye, and generally the selller of any such P car goodness that I would be interested in would be a private seller no doubt.

A bit of interest there as a golf Mk 7 R is on trademe ex OZ, and looking on carsales.com.au there are golf 7 R's in the low fifties which is quite a good price compared to local golf R prices. I guess an analysis could be done to check for price parity over different makes to see if it is on or not. Some makes seem to work out OK as imports but some don't as the local importers in nz of that make are not price gouging like some others.

Hi Mate. Welcome saw your pics in the thread you started up a level. Congrats on the car. There are a number of 44 fanboys and racers round these parts with more collective experience than you could imagine so you'll be in good hands

Welcome - I have a 44 S2 but given its use, I can't help with any of the Q's on your other thread. We're about to start ripping the headlight units out to save weight

Your in good hands at EP with any of those questions. They look after a bunch of the 944 crew. I expect Michael (obsessed) will be along shortly - a fellow 'tron 44 driver.

Congrats on the win the other day Peter! Do you need any headlights for the race series? I ask because a 924 CGT setup would look sweet, but probably unnecessary

That Golf R was imported damaged.

Aha, hence the cheaper price then. I also notice that Aussie golfs are lower spec in terms of power.

It's just someone's render, not official: http://www.theophiluschin.com/?p=6390

Thank God. Not fan of the tacked on integrated lip and trapezoidal lower central air intake - too GTRish and a bit OTT the way it was rendered. Too awkwardly fussy. Better from the waistline up but there's just too much Cayman/Macan influence up front for my taste. The 991 bonnet is already very high so if it needs a facelift I'd rather I'd rather see a rebated groove like the classic 911 bonnet to re-emphasize the wings a bit than a faux power bulge.

The glasshouse, the mirrors, the swell of the haunches look 911 worthy though. The smoked lenses I like too. I hope Porsche use the 991.2 revision to tidy up the generic looking cleaner jets shown in front of them though. The current 991 already looks damn good in most other respects so there's a risk of gilding the lily I reckon.

The rendered car's colour is near perfect of course

I think I've seen that plug before. If I recall correctly it's a petrol octane plug that is jumpered when only poor petrol is available.
