Any Rennlisters from New Zealand?
Its their faces as the Great White Shark descends on them that haunts me Douggie....and the damage they will do to my front radiators the day I cant move to avoid them!
Actually I have no problem sleeping in reality but I still dream of roads like Old Russell...

Yes, I've never hit one but it's probably only a matter of time. They're so unpredictable and appear to be pretty dopey. They'd make a fair mess of the front of the car, that's for sure. Remember this small bird mess found in my radiator
Macca, you have Pukekos (Swamp hen) on Efate (proof they inedible if Ni-Vans won't eat them). Don't they give you trouble there as well?
Roads around WA look as boring as batSh1t. We are so lucky in NZ.
Dougie, what's the timeframe for East Cape?
Yep, I reckon we're pretty lucky to drive half an hour and be into good b-road territory. The East Cape run may have to be soonish. I'm getting bored with this winter already. All polished and no where to go :-)
Email me some dates that would work for you.

Two things:
1). They are 1/3rd size of Pukeko and shorter
2). The fact I rarely see them is proof ni-Van diet has changed in the decade since you were here Bro!
Even if they were prolific they would have to be:
A). stoned on Kava not to move out of the way of my truck in time
B). I doubt they would touch the underside of the Ranger,
C). nor would I feel them if I hit them with a 2 tonne vehicle :-)
I have found virtually every road in Australia I have driven is boring as hell. I would fall asleep thinking about them. Its one of many reasons I would not move to the Land of Plenty ;-)
Doug. That bird saw a Beret wearing dude in a quick convertible with a red roof and in disbelief forgot to fly. That's all! The reason those Pukeko's are so dopey is because Im sure they have been eating the Northland cash crops. Ive never seen such a stupid bird (ok, maybe the Pigeons in Vanuatu - they are really dumb). I still remember one that on seeing/hearing the Great White Shark walked from the centreline where he was clearly navel gazing, two foot left then changed direction 2 foot right. using my ESP I had already swerved in anticipation the opposite way of his first movement and we managed to slip by. A Pukeko waltz it surely was. Close to being a body slam tho!
