No. plate starts with GR...? A fellow member of the same garage. Some other tasty treats in there include a Superleggera, an M1, and an E30 M3 in a very Dave orange.

Could have this on the track for 25k with new cage, tyres, suspension?
I was seriously considering going down the 944 racing path for a while, but of late I have been leaning a lot more towards a Cayman. Sure their start prices are very different, but the parts etc for a Cayman will be easier and the end result will be much much faster. Waiting for their prices to drop a bit more though.

I think that would be a really interesting proposition. I see what they are doing with these in UK & USA and they ar making incredibly good race cars from them. BGB use 3.8L transplant from 991 if more power is needed. I think early Cayman S are now in the ballpark for a project, if not then only 12-18 months away. Suspension, diff, exhaust, lightening and brakes and you have a platform that on slicks will keep early 996 Cup honest on tight tracks. Bring it on!

I've just listed my surplus new 18" Michelin Pilot Super Sports on trademe at my cost price imported last year when the exchange rate was stronger and via cheap container freight. Located in Auckland.

2 x 235/40ZR18
2 x 265/40ZR18

Suit Boxster or Cayman 987 platform.

If you know of anyone who may be interested please refer them to the listing.

Thanks
Doug

Dean had a look at my damaged tyre this morning. He looked hard for signs of being run flat and the outside wall didn't show any signs of cracking or whetever he was looking for.

When I picked up the car the tyre pressures were a bit all over the place so I think over stressed sidewall through being run low for a time is the most likely explanation. While it was worn on the inside, it shouldn't have been enough to do this.

The other theory is that I damaged the tyre hitting something sharp (pot hole or something) but I don't recall anything. On the hoist in Chch on the 5th January I looked hard at each tyre but was really looking at even treadwear - so could have missed something.

Anyhow, it all worked out ok in the end thanks to the RSG crew - especially Pete's 6 hours on the road.

My mate Andy was at HB with his yellow Evo 2:

Andy's has the euro front lights (same size). The one in Runtothehills profile pic has the Japanese spec lights (smaller on the inside).

I understand they have a miltek exhaust and aftermarket springs (and that's about it).

No main bearing replacement.

I thought the price was a bit high given the hard life they have lived and being Singapore imports (but what do I know......)

It's only a few grand - but $42-45K is more realistic??

Yeah, I think it got a bit carried away. If you needed a gearbox or engine for an existing car kit might be worth it. You could sell the RS2 interior specific parts for alot on ebay.com along with the wheels and drive train components and gearbox and come out of it with a free engine?

It probably has a very limited market, which is lucky as there are supposedly only three in the Country.

As for taking your cars, I'll sit and wait until the Zanzibar Red emerges at some stage. That has to be one of the best 996 GT3 s around.
