I think while this car may start at 60k, a z51 c8 is going to be 75-80k - that’s the one at a minimum you’re going to want. While that is still a lot of bang for your buck, it is not 60k. The dichotomy between pricing on a 992S is still a lot, but I would imagine the base 992 is going to be within around 20k of a z51.
I do think the C8 is going to be several hundreds of pounds more than a 992 and 400-500 pounds heavier than a 718 Cayman/Boxster and that will be meaningful in terms of dynamics and handling.
Overall, the C8 seems pretty compelling.

Where is all this weight coming from? I suggest they make a stripped out “RS” version or spend some research/$ to make the GS and Z versions lighter instead of just add more HP as usual. They could charge close to $100k for 300lbs less, easy, and still be a huge bargain.
It weighs in at 3366 lbs.

Those images in post 209 have me really liking the C8. Badass. Watch out for the Z06 and ZR1. They will compete with the Mac, Ferrari’s and Porsches at less than Uber car levels.

i think this car will make all manufactures think twice about prices.

That's "dry" weight as specified by GM. Curb weight should be around 3600. Would have been phenomenal if Curb was 3366.

Corvette and Porsche stereotypes are out there. Both have their good material. This car will bring in alot of new buyers. The older Corvette owners will be bitching about all the newbies. It never ends. At this point, there's no value in any Porsche. Their constant price hikes have gotten out of control across all the model lines. Won't work well when they compete more so against the rest of the mass producers now.

☝️Exactly. Unless you are tracking, you can’t compare a Chevy Corvette to a 911.

These stereotypes refer to people who buy/own cars for reasons other than driving (image, status, exclusivity, VIP treatment, "investing", etc.). Drivers like all cars that drive/feel good and they recognize a bang/buck arbitrage when they see one, regardless of brand.

The real test will be standing next to one! Then climbing in and getting a first impression. GM has continuously upped it game! This car can only spell danger for all the other mass produced sports car manufacturers. Funny how 30,000 cars is "mass production" when compared to a million pick up trucks per year.

For me that held true up to 997, and I'd take my 987 Boxster S over any Corvette from any year for the exact same reason. Remains to be seen if 992 "Panamera Coupe" feels more nimble and sporty than a mid-engine C8 on coilovers. Not saying that it won't, just that it's not a slam dunk conclusion any more.

Unless one wants a manual, which the Porsches have but the Vette does not. If I had not recently bought my Targa I would give the Spyder a serious look, and I like the Vette from what I see now but not with a DCT.

I was reading a vette forum yesterday. Guys were complaining that they would never pay msrp for a Vette, because that was what dealers were charging. lol

This is getting off track. I for one think the car looks good, but look wise not better than a 720S that’s just perspective nothing about price. Good price point and performance.
