yea I dunno, I could speculate that a previous owner had aftermarket muffler so he put it back to stock-ish before the auction. 991 Ti mufflers are much more plentiful than OE stainless 997 GT3 and are identical… other than the metal ofc
I thought OE too, but the tips look like they're integrated / welded directly to muffler with no bracket . . .
EDIT - Just saw seller comment that the tips are welded on. Weird choice, but probably confirms OE muffler.
The full story of the GT3 RS #3318 in the classifieds just went out on the GTvault email list. Thank you to the members here for their contribution, and combined with some discussions yesterday with other parties we were able to offer much more insight that is valuable for anyone considering that car. If he bought it in 2013 and has never tracked it since, 14 track days total since new is nothing. These cars were marketed as cars that are very capable on track, so I would expect any GT3 I've bought to have seen some track time
Not sure why everyone has issues with a car that's been tracked, most people do normal DE days and don't go at 10/10ths. I track my car a few times a year but probably maintain it better than garage queens and essentially give my tech an "open check book" at time of service.
The White RS WP0AC2A91AS783811with the silver graphics has seen way more than 14 track days. It's over 100 track days with an added off track event, a rear quarter hit w/a tire wall and rebuilt transmission. It's all in the Vault. Not saying it's a bad car, just saying this information is not in the ad.
Edit: oops, looks like SWC just posted. I'll still leave this here.

These cars in hindsight used to be dirt cheap. Could pick one up new for MSRP or often less. In 2011-2013 you could get one for far less than that just look at some of the adds from the old Rennlist classifieds. Nobody back then saw them as future collectibles just as depreciating assets that were made for the track. Lots used them as they were intended. Since the market has gone up significantly many cashing in some not knowing their cars previous history and others knowing but choosing to hide it. Nothing wrong with using these cars as they were meant to, but not good to try and hide it.

Can you shoot me info on this. Everyone seems to know more on my car than me ha.
Some cars back at the time modified and/or used as they were intended. Some are very desirable and rare PTS cars. I’m sure most of these are in collections now wonder how many believe their cars have never seen a track. The last two photos believe the car is stock and not sure if it was tracked, but it’s a one owner Northern California car with as of October 2023 106k miles.

Foolish to think for a second that any of these cars haven't seen at least some track time. More foolish to think that track time is somehow inherently a ding to a car's condition or longevity. Sure, it's harder on the car than sitting undriven in a collection, but in the right owner's hands, arguably not nearly as hard on a car as years of canyon carving on sketchy roads.
It's entirely down to buying the owner and knowing the history. My GT4 was almost exclusively tracked, and probably more obsessively maintained and cleaner than 95% of non-tracked cars with similar mileage when I sold. Many of us are like that.
The more damaging thing in this context is to make any sort of conclusory statement about track use when a seller is unsure. You'll never recover from a misstatement. You'll similarly never convince the "track hurts car!" dummies that your perfectly maintained, gently-tracked GT car isn't somehow vastly inferior to a garage queen . . .

Your post got me curious, so I ended up searching my VIN here to see what turned up. Aside from being previously mentioned in this thread, I found a FS post from 2012 from presumably the original owner. I just PM'd him to get some more insight. It's sometimes funny to me how small our little GT3 world is.
That Aqua is similar to mine minus that horrid steering wheel, sport Chrono and red gauges. Of course I have 20k miles on mine, not as few as that one…

Please delete those screenshots. They’re not good for my mental health 😭
