What did you do to your 997 today?

@nydog Hello, are you missing the foam protection or is it different in your area? I just disassembled everything to place a grid and clean everything

Just got the car in January and just got her out of storage. Cleaned up and ceramic coated. Then added the new motor mounts and Fabspeed intake. So,naturally it started to snow and we are supposed to get 8”s

Swapped my OEM multifuncton triangle wheel with this DCTMS wheel! The leather is excellent, much thicker and feels great in the hands.

By today, do you mean the last 20 days?....I bought my '05 S/aero kit car from Real Muscle Cars in Miami. Could not be happier with the car. A year ago, dear friend Doug got the itch for another 911 and wouldn't you know that RMC had an '07 Carrera with 14,000 one-owner miles on the clock. I helped Doug put the deal together and he was over the moon. Upon seeing the car in the northeast during a trip, Doug was effusive about the car, but to my eye and despite the mileage, it needed some care. It took a year, but I picked-up Doug's 997 and brought it down to our garage for some 'remedial' work that would have it looking like a low-mileage 997 should look. Here's Doug's Lapis Blue/Stone Grey Carrera in my garage ready for a transformation....

First order of business was a thorough wash, which immediately yielded results. The paint is in good shape but in need of paint correction and stone chip repairs. The tires were 11 years old and the wheels were in need of refinishing. Note the old dark tint on the windows that had turned purple over the years...

Tire Rack deposited new Continentals at the garage, and they were off for replacement and refinishing of the wheels.

The tint was next to go and if you've never removed old tint, I assure you that it is a pain. I used a heat gun to soften the glue and allow the film to be pulled-off. Bad news is that no matter how diligent you are, it always leaves the glue residue on the glass. Here's a tip from a YouTube video. Go to Dollar Tree and buy their 'Totally Awesome' degreaser and the really mild nylon scouring pads. Spray the Awesome on the glue, let it sit for a minute and then scrub lightly with the pad. It come right off! This stuff....for a dollar a bottle...is a must in the garage! Who would have thought??
I removed the rear carpeted panel at the bottom of the window as the installer had run the film down under the panel. I replaced all the clips (that were sprung from the prior removal).

It was now onto the driver's side door where the door handle pivot had broken a tab for the return spring and allowed the handle to flop around. It's a reasonably easy repair. Make sure you get the Porsche part and not the alternate part that is offered.

The interior panels and door sills were scratched as per usual with the soft-tough paint on our cars. Sanding along with lacquer thinner removed the old finish and I use SEM Color Coat paint (in this case Matte Black for the door sills and Graphite for the console, key and light switch surrounds
