Nice, but I always thought it best to own a 911 but have a friend with a boat.

I can tell you from experience...often better to have a friend with a boat and just bring the beer...I love having a boat since we have a lake house but there are times when it's a pain in the ***...

It's a full 3 or 4 day weekend every year doing all the maintenance, plus keeping it clean the rest of the year since it stays in the ocean all the time. I enjoy the work, but there is plenty of it

I took ours out of winter storage, put on the 18 inch rims that I bought over the winter and drove home. This C2 does not have PASM and the 18” rides so much better than 19”!

Over the past 2 weekends, I've been doing some DIY maintenance. Last weekend, change the sparkplugs and coil pack and this weekend, drain and fill my manual transmission fluid.

Default New CV boots

I noticed grease on my right front wheel, got under the car and found the outer CV boot torn badly (2006 C4 6MT). After a phone call with my Indy I decided to tackle the project myself.

In the end I replaced all four front boots. This was a filthy job, and a time-consuming one, but worth it to save the labor costs. I was able to confirm no abnormal wear on the joints and when re-greased everything fit and functioned as intended.

Right outer (before)

Right outer off the car

Right outer (after)

Right inner

Excellent work! I’d like to learn how to do that. What did you use as a go by? Any supplemental info you’d suggest that would be helpful?

I leaned heavily on the experience of other Rennlisters, this thread got me started and the videos in this thread were a fantastic supplement.

The only elements I’d add is that I did not have to disconnect the steering rack from the wheel carrier, nor did I have to loosen the lower control arms in order to remove the axles, your experience may vary.

The most frustrating element was the two hours I spent trying to reassemble one of the inner CV joints. No matter how I approached it I couldn’t get more than four of the bearings back in the race. Then I added some fresh grease and in seconds it was back together.

You may want to have a couple extra oetiker clamps to seal the boots, the ones in the kit are stubborn but not fool-proof.

I borrowed a practice from Petza and replaced all fasteners with new, stainless hardware. If I ever have to do a job again I won’t be dealing with frozen bolts (two of the socket head screws mounting the axle to the front differential took hours to free).

Shop towels are better than paper, brake cleaner is your friend, pour a cold one and buckle up, this is a messy project.

Nice work! I did this a couple years ago and it really is pretty messy!

But on the flip side once everything is clean, it's fun putting it all together.

Picked up the car after having suspension refresh with B16’s, new clutch, HPFP, and a few other items.

15mm spacers rear, 10mm front. Lowered approx .8” but think I want to go a bit lower.

thoughts on height?

Perfect stance and fitment. 👍
