@Ironman88 probably nailed it. The polished lip is likely causing an illusion of more wheel gap.
I've had both H&R and Eibach springs and I 100000% prefer the Eibachs. More of a classy drop vs totally slammed. Don't get me wrong, the extra drop did look good for photos at times, but the ride sucked. It's a subtle difference but having the extra height is just less stressful driving around and still looks awesome. Spacers will also help get those wheels right to the edge and help fill those fenders.
Drove my Boxster to our place in Northern Michigan and switched the GPS to "avoid highways". Usually a 3 hour drive but this way it was more like five hours. Came around a dark country curve doing 60+ and found a big fat slow moving raccoon right in the middle of my lane, but the car executed the raccoon shuffle with no qualms. LOVE THIS CAR!!
Read many posts and decided to dip and it turned out pretty good. Decision had nothing to do with saving money, I just wanted to see if I could dip over the OE stone guards 😊
I only hand wash so not concerned with the dip peeling off.
I did this as well a few weeks back, amazing how easy it was and how much better they look. Amazon for the win!
After doing mine, the OEM ones got stripped and painted so they look new, except for the letters. If anybody can use them (without letters) let me know. They'll at least clean up the looks.
