My weather stripping is deteriorating on the passenger side to the point where my finger turns black just by touching it. I was a bit apprehensive with taking this on as I wasn't able to find much information on the process on the interweb. All in all it's actually not very difficult to do. The most difficult part being pulling the window out as it has to be pulled in a downward and outward direction to get it over the existing weather stripping. I lubed the existing weatherstrip with some glass cleaner and took it slow to appease my fear of having the window shatter in the process. The window has 2 mounting studs glued to the surface and those have to clear the pillar before it will come out. Drilling of the 16 rivets went smoothly and was my second major concern, again no problem. You can have someone man the shop vac while drilling and/or put something inside to catch the shavings. I purchased 2 inexpensive tile suction cups from lows for $8.99 each and they provided the grip needed to manipulate the window.
I shopped around a bit for the replacement parts and found that Delaware Porsche Parts had the best prices. Shipping wasn't cheap due to the size of the weather stripping boxes.
I'm replacing the window gasket at the same time as i figure I might as well while I'm in there rationale, but the old ones are still in good shape for being 16 years old.
foam pads that go round the mounting studs window removed weather stripping removed cleaned the old adhesive off of the mounting studs mounting studs with adjuster mounting studs with adjuster new foam pads installed window installed
I hope this info is useful for someone considering taking this project on.
Update: after completing the other side I found it easier to get the window out by just cutting the weather stripping along the bottom edge of the window as it was so badly deteriorated anyway.

They look awesome. I bought RS wheels for my GTS as well. Can you feel the difference driving on these compared to the stock setup?
Nah, can't say I notice a difference between them and the Spyders. However I consider myself still new to the car so a more experienced 997 driver might notice. Have you put your new wheels on yet? Hope to see some pics soon
i agree 362% and they weigh less than a lb. what i saw was that either you pay more for the gaskets at a local dealer or pay the shipping. Nashville Porsche was asking $500 for the weather stripping, all of the on line options had high shipping.
Door end caps done in 4mm black Porsche leather, 5mm stitch length, 1/8 inch from edge, Weldwood glue..Not that hard to do compared to other parts. Good starter part...
At the carwash, cleaned the soot and carbon off my exhaust. Used good ole Wurth carburetor cleaner plus soap-wash to bring out the bluish-purple tinge of the Ti tips.
Am a happy camper. 😁
