The 997 is such a timeless design, it's a shame to let a handful of little details detract from the appearance.
The stock incandescent license plate lights are a minuscule detail - but they do look yellow and dingy and date the vehicle in my view. So I replaced them today.
Rather than going the Suncoast route ($79 + shipping)!, I went with the USP Motorsports solution - which is currently on sale at $27 (for the pair). Quick and easy swap - and made a surprisingly nice difference I think...

Let us know how long those festoon bulbs last. I tried festoon bulbs out first, and they only lasted 2 months. I ended up getting the Suncoast ones and they’ve still held up for 2 yrs now.

The Suncoast bulbs for this specific location / application are festoon bulbs as well. (Festoon is the shape / style of LED element.)
USP Motorsports has an excellent reputation. I have zero concerns about the quality / expected longevity of these LED's. (Certainly nothing like the no-name junk from eBay.)
Racked it. Had to toss a board on to see if it had too drastic of a rake towards the rear. Looks pretty good to me, now I just gotta decide whether or not I wanna be "that guy" at the local. Its really meant for cargo box mounting for the extra luggage room but a board will find itself up there at some point. This is a Thule 3100 fit kit with 753/751 towers and old school RB43 load bars.

One of my license plate bulbs from USP Motorsports failed after 10 months. I bought a set of 36mm festoon LED from Amazon for $7 as replacement.
My son and I went plane spotting at the local airport. He’s been planning this for awhile. Got to see some cool stuff and he took some sweet photos of my 997. He’s 11 but has a very good photographic eye for things.

The Suncoast units are the entire housing that replace the whole housing in your car now, not just the plug in bulbs that you insert into the existing housings. I’ve tried both styles for my 997 and my Audi, and in both, those bulbs that you pop in the original incandescent housings fail really fast. I hope yours last, but I haven’t had luck with those festoon style bulbs. Let us know if they hold up.

Well if they fail early on, I'll make a point of communicating it fully here.
Honestly, I've read so many different accounts of LED replacement units - some swear by them, others have had bad luck (including the Suncoast LED's.) My experience with Suncoast was not the best.
Could be that the quality control overall with these LED's is so inconsistent that regardless of brand or source, you see failures. We'll see what happens.

Those are some good photos. I'm noticing that the more 992s I see, the more our 997s start to look like classic 911s to me. These photos capture that pretty well somehow.

An agency should sign him now, while he’s still attainable!
Nice pictures and awesome to see your car has PCCBs!
