1. Like you, a lesson learned from my first (for me) work on my car was that it saves many multiples of time to take everything off for easy access, I don't have the aptitude to finesse the same way a pro/someone more experienced would do.
2. It's all about learning -- just as you said -- and the feeling of accomplishment/pride when completed. At least it was for me, no matter how embarrassingly small a project.
3. Dude, you have no idea how lucky you are to live in SoCal and have such a clean car. When I took off my side exhausts, it was a much different picture...
Congratulations! I'm going to attempt the same project this winter when there's a few feet of snow on the ground.

Thx!

Haha, thank you for your kind encouragement Bob! Yeah, when I went through all the pictures I took, it was impressive to see such clean exhausts even for me. I wish I could take all the credit
Finally got the PITA AOS rear line installed to where the smoke test showed none escaping. Totally scrapped the original line and put a rubber sleeve on the AOS outlet, and a reducing fitting onto that to connect to the rest of the custom line I made.
Now assembly can continue. Supercharger belt and tensioner cage are next. I remember that being fun too last time I replaced my water pump.
In Bosch plugs, a lower number is colder and a higher number is hotter. I've never found a colder Bosch plug for our cars that has the same rest of the specs with thread type, gap, reach, etc. What's the long number on the plugs that came out.
Post pics of the plug ends with the accumulated spot with which cylinder each came out of.
Here are some pictures of spark plugs I pulled. The part number is FGR4NQE04. The one I replaced with is FGR5NQE04. They got sort of mixed up but I'm sure they are 3 left and 3 right from left to right in picture. 1st in left is the cranial most in left and 4th from the left in picture the cranial most in right side. Sorry I'm not familiar with cylinder numbers.
What’s up guys, so I changed the oil today and ran it through some tests. Gotta love this thing but idk might consider selling it, maybe getting into a 991.? Any thoughts?
If you buy 991, and put the 997 for sale - consider removing all that body kit bits. I think could potentially devalue the car quite a bit. Personal tastes aside, modded cars with body kits do badly unless it is some gembala or smth. Then youll get a nicer 991 in the trade!
this may be a bit of blasphemy (please forgive me) but on long drives, the drone and just intensity of the road noise starts to get a bit much. after researching some suggestions on the forums and googling, i decided to just dynamat the front and wheel liners before a road trip to vegas from LA (don't worry, skipped the strip, had to do some house work on a condo over there). my verdict is that... it kind of worked? road noise is much less but 4 and a half hours in traffic at high freeway speeds left my ears ringing.
i still have to replace my engine mounts and previous owner put on a weird combo of conti's up front and ps4s's in the rear. i doubt changing the engine mounts will reduce any of the road noise but im hoping that changing the conti's up front to ps4s's would help. anybody have any idea?

Yeah I'd bet your tires are making more noise than necessary. My PS4S are very quite. At highway speed (70-80mph here in virginia) I get wind noise, but no real tire noise.

Those look fine. You might see more ground electrode wear with the hotter plug so look for that at the next change. I just installed colder plugs in my 997 because of that, but my car isn't stock.
Today I replaced my rotten OEM coil heat shields with some polished stainless steel ones i got from eBay-uk the fit was perfect alway nice to add new shiny bits.
