I got the Head Unit from Amazon for £275, the fitting kit from In car technologies for £150 and had it fitted for £90, took an hour.
Have been using it for 10 days and delighted with it, using Tom Tom Go for navigation, cost £13 per year.
sounds like a nice upgrade. I am getting a little tired of how flaky my cheap Bluetooth streaming adapter is. Has anyone used the plug and play stuff from CAI-Store.com?
Put the finishing touches on the work done on my exhaust system (New Fister sport mufflers, Sharkwerks center muffler bypass). Detailed the tips this afternoon.
He'll do whatever you want. Very reasonably priced and fast turn around.
Thanks. He's done two steering wheels for me. Didn't realize he does other parts as well. His Facebook marketing puts his website to shame. Not everyone does Facebook.
Can't wait to start digging in and getting to know it more. I've got a week long, no questions asked return period so I plan on doing a thorough P(ost)PI this weekend.
It's an '07 C2... 1 owner, well maintained, high miles 140k, California car, 6 speed and seems like a great first Porsche for me.
Why do the data logging curves not begin until 3,000 rpm?
You can see the power and torque bump just after 3,800 rpm when the Variocam plus kicks in, but something unusual is happening at 5,400 that's causing that major valley in power delivery, like it's not getting enough air or fuel or its getting lean and the knock sensor is pulling timing to protect the motor. Does the car have a custom tune?
So, I thought this was odd so starting looking around the internet for other 997 dyno curves, and surprising to me, this is actually a fairly normal 997 curve, but I'm trying to understand why, because although it's a fairly not all 997 curve, it's not really a normal curve for most cars. The only dyno graphs I see that don't have this major valley right where you don't want it are the ones from forced induction 997s, like the evolution Motorsports supercharger setups. It also doesn't happen in the GT3 motors which are also normally aspirated so something happens with the tune or hardware setup in 997.1 engines right at that rpm that interrupts the power delivery and it happens with bolt on modified cars too so doesn't seem to be an intake or exhaust restriction or turbulence issue.
A graph from ipd for their plenum seems to smooth it out, there's also a graph from an APR tune that seems to eliminate it, but without forced induction, it's usually there.
The 997.2 also seems to have it to a much lower extent and that power curve is smoother and steadier without the big valley at 5,200 rpm. Anyone know the root cause of this?
Have done a few things over the last couple weeks,
Tinted front driver and passenger windows to match rears, turned out great I think, gives the car a more uniform look.
Tinted Headlights,Foglights and Tailights, turned out good, just did a light smokey tint on these and you might not even notice if you didn't see the before pics
Vinyl wrapped the rear reflector, turned out okay but not sure if I will keep like that. The reflector had tons of moisture in it and didn't look very good, there's a good post here on how to remove and dry out and reseal. Also the vinyl wrap reveals a hairline crack so that's annoying as well
Swapped out the original rear emblem with a 991 matte black one, old one was silver and chipped, it left a ton of ghosting but had it buffed out. I didn't use the P O R S C H E lettering as I thought it would look too busy. The script is about 30 percent smaller then the original. Centering / Spacing it was the most time consuming part.
Ordered a pair of the magnagrafik carbon black matte stone guards, super easy to install, just make sure you warm up the bottom portion with a hairdryer so it conforms to the curve on the bottom and gets out any pockets. I have black film ones on as well so these just went right over top, love that I can change the look of the car so easily back and forth.
Had full detail/paint correction/ceramic pro gold done, looks great so far, was really impressed on how much it brought all the rubber and plastic trim back to life, even the wiper arms that were faded to a almost hazy grey colour look brand new, we'll see how it holds up.

Was this car at a dealer near LA? I seriously considered it, had a PPI done on it, but I'm glad it went to a RL member. Congrats!

Thanks! It was at a dealership (Shift) in South San Francisco... on a lot literally 2 miles from my house. I think it was meant to be!?
Shift has a location in LA though and their website lists cars in all locations. If you did have a PPI done remotely it could be the same car. Any chance I could get you to share the results if it is haha?!

Looks gorgeous for that many miles! Welcome to the club
