Finally starting to do some work on her...bumper panel off in preparation for Sharkwerks X-Pipe installation. Installed ECS spacers, 15s on rear and 10 sup front, along with lug studs. We will have more projects in the near future, and one side benefit to Covid is having our college age son home/studying virtually.
I would strongly suggest ordering a few different lengths and seeing how they fit on your front and rears which, of course, will vary depending upon the spacers you're running (if you are) and your wheels.
For my application with 10mm spacers in front, I have 56mm lugs; in back, where I have 15mm spacers I'm using 70mm lugs (19" OEM Carrera S wheels).
If I'm brutally honest, I would have gone with shorter lugs if using my standard wheels. However, someday I'd like to get a set of BC Forged and I don't know how they'd fit...cosmetically, it's really not a big deal, I am just a bit picky at times.
@Khloesdad a couple of other related details that aren't abundantly clear when going to ECS' website...
1. You'll want to apply a drop of thread locker when you put these in...they aren't an easily removable/temporary thing, IMO. I used Permetex Orange, which has good strength but is still removable.
2. The hex-head faces out, as you can see, and gets torqued to 15Nm...I would do that within 2-3 minutes of installing the lugs with the tread locker. In fact, we just went one at a time to play it safe: A drop of thread locker on the end of the lug, hand tighten, then take a torque wrench with a 5mm hex head socket on it.
You should be good to go. Took me days to figure this out, but I am admittedly not terribly mechanically inclined.
it actually didn’t change the sound too much, just a little more flat 6’ey - it did however pick up a bunch of mid range toque that I am super happy to put to use. Up top is maybe a little more power.
I actually ordered some high gloss CF wrap and I’m going to wrap the whole cap and do an all gold bbs logo with Porsche below it in gold as an homage to the racetrack caps.
Insert the plastic screw & trim off the back to flush...I melted the end to flatten it out & lock the bolt in place.
The pin must move freely so I made sure the bolt wasn't too tight.
As you can see I melted the end more than I wanted but it work. I used a nut at first but it stick out too much & the assembly
won't slide back in the slot. Maybe I'll use a rivet nut next time if the other side break.
No more cupholder ejecting when I opened the door.
Easy DIY which cost me nothing but maybe an hr.
Today I finished my trek from Denver to Portland in my new-to-me 2009 C2S Cab.
I had a 996 C4S Cab in Seal Gray, but I ended up in an accident, and the car was a total loss. I figured I'd leave the issues of the 996 behind and go with a 997.2. It's really a wonderful car, and the creature comforts are nice.
I'm looking forward to spending my time in this forum now after a two-month+ search for a manual S cab with sport chrono, ventilated seats, and some other items I wanted in one of the few colors I like.
