Yesterday I made a simpler and easier to make version of the cheap boost leak detector:

Today I used it to find a small boost leak in the junction between the center and left side intake manifold.

Then, took off the front bumper cover to update the 2011-vintage electronic countermeasures installed by the previous owner. While in there, cleaned out the side radiators /condensers. Found a cigarette butt and large dragonfly among other various surprises.

The CV quarantine is very conducive to car projects!

I ordered a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. My rears were down to the wear bars so it was time. I decided to replace the Bridgestone's on the front so now it will be Michelin's all the way around. Now I just have to locate a good shop to have them installed. I'm open for suggestions if you are in the Crystal Lake, IL area.

planning to tackle this too in the next few weeks. What coating did you use?

I got set to install my summer wheel set, which I had Plasti-Dipped last year to test a new color. Removing the Plasti-Dip was getting time consuming (note to self--spray it on thicker next time), so I broke out the power washer. Big mistake.

It was much too late by the time i realized that i was pulling big chunks of clear coat off of the wheels along with the Plasti-Dip.

Mobile wheel tech is coming tomorrow to see if she can fix them or if i am going to have to re-do them.

Oh well, if they need to be re-done, i will go ahead and have them done in the gunmetal gray that i was testing out with the Plasti-Dip.

Put up a picture of them on the car! I am looking at doing my wheels in gold, bronze or aurum once the snow is off the ground here in Alberta!

Stay safe & wash yer mitts!

Also want to do this soon, now that the weather is holding up.

Still waiting for Meguiar's to release their ceramic coating (M788) so will probably just do a sealant for now.

Transmission fluid change. The fluid coming out was clean as a whistle (26k) It was interesting hearing the vacuum when taking out the fill plug. Shifting may be a little smoother. Need more data which means more driving. Oh darn.

just about snapped the fuel door off when filling up last night

Now I have to find a dealer open during COVID19 so I can order whatever plastic parts I need to repair it.

Try getting the part numbers off here: https://nemigaparts.com/cat_spares/pet/porsche/

You can order online. Perhaps try www.suncoastcoastparts.com

Good luck!

Default Oil change, front bumper repair, paint touch up, wheel wash

The COVID 19 crisis has given me some tone to address a few small issues with my 997.

Front bumper removal. Takes time and patience and was manageable after watching a few videos online.

My most pressing issue is this crease from road debris

Shined up the rotors while everything was apart.

Masked all jams off for reapplication of bumper. Good advise from dealer.

My favorite wheels but challenging to clean. Easier when off tha car

Thanks, but I did find a dealer open near my home. I'll be picking up the hinge later today (yah). Never a good sign when they have random parts like this in stock (common part to break I suppose).
