Changed out my rusty looking lug bolts with the latest black anodized ones from Porsche. Interestingly, the factory torque spec was upped to 118 lb ft instead of the former 96 on the silver bolts.
Porsche changed that spec for all lug nuts and bolts a few years ago and made it retroactive. It has nothing to do with the black ones.
Yes, they can be. I use anti-seize on my lugs so still use the 96 ft. lb. number since the friction reduction from the lubricant would be equivalent to a higher dry torque.

I just jump up and down on a long extension bar until the lug holds all my weight... has not failed me yet

dude, in high school, that was the legit way to do it. haha.
I read so much on this TQ crisis. Torquegate. There are some really amazing "old man yelling at clouds" threads on this. You can go into a deep rabbit hole on the internet while at the office if you want.
In the end, I just split the difference. I have been doing 100. If I go to check the specs and they are loose, I will do 110 but not over. My observation is that at 96, when I check my tq specs once a week or less, I can tighten them a little. When I go to 100, they are happy with commuting and do not loosen. When I do some canyon runs or late night freeway blasts, they will loosen a little, so I went up to 110. Since then, I get an immediate click. Just to be clear, when I say "loosen," I am talking about less than a quarter turn before a click, so the difference between 96 and 106 or so just gives a little more grip when you are driving in a bit more extreme conditions than stop and go freeway nonsense. Looking at it right now, I can still see 110 on my wrench, and I do not think it is the most accurate wrench on the earth, so I think I am right around 106 and happy with GT3 wheels and RSS 5mm spacers with their bolts.
From tracking a lot before I had this car, I just have a habit of checking stuff more now. One thing I check with every tank of gas is my wheel bolts/nuts/lugs torque. When the car is cool after getting home, I will go out, look at my car for a few minutes, and then torque the nuts + check my tire pressures. I find it relaxing.

Reason: I changed it to a "quarter turn" because a half seemed excessive.

I Know, right!!!! The good ol' days!! It was about chasing girls instead of proper foot pounds of torque specs
nowadays my ocd has me looking up torque specs too!

Torquegate and Torque-obsession! Actually, Thanks for reminding me, because I just went out and jumped on my extension bar a few more times and got another quarter turn out of each of those babies!!!
I think with my current setup I am up to about 310 ft pounds of torque! This is my torque bar set up I use at home
Trying out amber fogs on my 997.1 C2. A big orange reflector/light up front has been a design staple on the G-series, 959, 964 & 993. So in a way, it's almost like backdating the look. Not positive if I'll keep them, but I feel like Arctic Silver needs something "extra" otherwise it looks boring. Elegant, classic - yes; but boring, too.
^^^
If you don't keep this, I wonder if PIAA has their yellow bulbs with this. When you turn them on, they have a nice little rainbow around them of blues like their 1200s in the early 90s. I had them on my EVO but haven't really thought about it on my 911.
Today I swapped my stock exhaust for Fisters + Sharkwerks. Actually, Darin Fister did it, and I'm glad I didn't -- pretty much every pipe bolt was so rusted it had to be torched off. Took him a couple hours to get the old mufflers cleanly off. Smooth sailing after that.
Car sounds great to me. Not too loud and not too tame. Nice little burbles on decel between 2-3K. I really enjoyed meeting and talking with Darin. Can't recommend him enough.

Cool! Not too many can say a Fister mod was installed by Darin the Fister man himself
It is a good experience. I went up there and got a room at the Holiday Inn the night before. He can even recommend restaurants in the area. I had a good dinner, fell asleep, woke up the next morning, drove about 500' to his shop, and he went to work. Cool dude. Cooler dog. Nice shop. I was on my way back to LA by 10am or so from my memory.
qikqbn indeed ! also video would require recruiting a family member, and at this point, not everyone is as appreciative of my hobby as the folks here. supportive, yes. appreciative, not there yet...
jamesinger that's quite the trip. not surprised you found it worth it.

It was a fun little road trip to get used to the car on new MSPS tires too. + I miss living in the bay area, so even just getting into the southmost part of it is worth it!!
Also, I feel you on the family not feeling my car obsession, ever basically, haha.
