Note to Porsche classic - 997 PCCM plus request
#2281
Please, Porsche!
I need the PCCM+ for a 997.2 turbo. The OEM unit in a 2010 feels like it is in the 1990’s and really detracts from an otherwise great car. I put one in a ‘07 C2S and loved it. Huge Improvement .

FYI, in case any one else was experiencing this problem:
I had an issue where sound quality through both the internal and external microphones was extremely muted with the PCCM+. I tried a variety of sound settings and microphone locations and everyone I spoke to said my voice was very distant and muted.
I decided to buy a BT conversion kit to transform my wired CarPlay into wireless CarPlay. For some reason, the microphone now works well and the sound volume is normal. There obviously was some issue with having the phone wired into apple car play that affected the microphone.

I am trying to rewire my existing reverse camera (that was previously connected to an aftermarket android unit) to work with PCCM+. I connected the camera power wire to pin8 (switched power for reverse), and pin32 for GND. Camera signal via RCA/fakra adapter. Result is I am not able to get PCCM+ to detect the reverse camera. Before connecting the existing camera wires to the system, I have also checked the voltage coming off the 2 wires and am sure it wasn't wired to the reverse light at the back.
I have read from here that tiptronic car does not need pin6 trigger, therefore after failing, I checked the voltage off pin8 with reverse gear engaged, and there is no voltage. This made me wonder if pin6 (reverse trigger) a must even for tiptronic cars?
The camera used to work with my previous aftermarket unit and I wonder how did it get the reverse trigger from.
I have a 2005 997 with tiptronic.

We are actually installing the PCCM+ on a 997.1 manual.
We added a reverse camera, but don’t get it detected by the PCCM. So same kind of problem.
We don’t know were to connect the reverse trigger on the PCCM. Pin6 does’nt work.
Any help?

Never mind, I figured it out. There's a setting in the PCCM where you can configure "day time running lights." Seems the default setting is to have that selected which keeps your exterior lights on all the time. I deselected this and everything is working as it should.

Can somebody explain how to repin a wire in the existing connector? Does it have to be cut to removed? Crimped to install? I bought PCCM+ way back in April but haven't installed it because of this, hoping someone would sell a pre-made cable.

For 6MT backup camera. I guess I just need to pin the camera power wire, which is spliced into reverse trigger on one end, into pin 6 on the white connector (that has fakra) on the other end, right? I don't know how to do physically pin a wire into the pin 6 hole.
Earlier posts were mentioning re-pinning the unused yellow cable going to pin 8 on the red connector, but seems unnecessary.
The connection on the bottom right...

PCCM+ wiring
Im trying to install the new PCCM coming from a pioneer unit. problem I'm faced with is that one of the OEM connectors has been removed to suit an aftermarket connector for the pioneer unit. I must not be the only one to come across this issue? Anyone know where to find OEM connectors and/or have a solution to this issue?
