Note to Porsche classic - 997 PCCM plus request
#2401
Finally installed mine, and I must say I love it.
I wasn’t a fan of the grey, so despite my fears of taking the PCCM+ apart, I did it and painted it 11 coats of SEM ultra trim black (49143). It came out PERFECT. It looks completely factory/ OEM.
Between the PCCM+ and the black, it’s changed the entire feel of the interior for me.

Same here very disappointed with sound of microphone during the calls, hands free calling are terrible ever unusable. 🙁

I initially had the same poor mic quality with my wife not being able to hear me at all. BUT... I found a thread that (if you are an iPhone user) you just need to change your audio settings once connected. I think by default the iPhone does a sort of audio filtering that ends up doubling up on the built in PCCM+ mic. The fix is to put your phone into standard. Once I did that, my calls have been fine with the stock PCCM+ mic placed on the steering column.

If that's the case, then there is actually one thing you need to do with it... sell it to someone who is installing a non-Porsche aftermarket unit in a Bose car
The separate unit (given the part number) is listed for around $175, which is a steal for anyone who needs analog outputs to feed into the Bose MOST optical system. Cheaper than most alternatives and supports four channels (with fading).
You'd have to figure out the wiring, of course, but I'd expect that to be simple -- a pair each for power, front, and rear.

Be aware that there were some cards that the PCCM+ could only read up to New York. I went through 3 and still don’t have a good one. Supposedly, the “newer” ones are good, but Porsche never changed the part number, labeling or packaging when they fixed the issue.

Sanity check. Installed PCCM+ with the backup camera. I opted to wire it with the first option where pin 6 is getting the signal from the reverse light. Basically in the figure:
1. Connected as shown to reverse light
2. Red wire not connected since it seems to already be connected to the reverse light.
3. Red connected to pin 6 with a fakra/RCA jack.
When I go to auto-configure it states that a backup camera is detected--yet I never get an image when I go into reverse. Have not driven the car yet but ignition switch is on. Is there any other step I should be doing? Is this red wire shown as item 2 also supposed to be connected? I did not think so since the camera power is coming from the reverse lamp.
