What do you guys think of this one. Am I the only one who thinks that 7k miles between oil changes is too long?

If the oil is synthetic 7k intervals are totally fine.

complete 2001 gray interior for $900 in Phoenix. This would be a great match for the current BAT silver turbo with the green interior if one were to buy both and not be an eagles fan.

On pages 5 and 6 it states that the oil filter should be changed every 15,000 miles, when the oil is changed.
So what they are saying is that for cars driven less than 9,000/year, the oil is good for 15,000 miles, and the oil filter is good for two years or 15,000 miles. The 15,000 miles accumulated since the last oil change could be well beyond two years for those cars that are driven less than 9,000 miles/year.
If someone bought a new 2002 996 Turbo, drove the car an average of 4,000 miles/year, and followed the maintenance manual, they would have changed the oil filter after two years, and changed the oil and the oil filter at 15,000 miles (approximately 3 years and 9 months since the oil was filled at the factory, assuming ~333 miles were driven each month since new for a total of ~4,000 miles annually in an even distribution/month. This example is offered simply to show that, as recommended by Porsche, the oil and oil filter do not have to be changed every 2 years).
I know that there are those here who will come out of their loafers about this, normally stating that Porsche doesn't know what they're talking about, or that these maintenance intervals are suggested by Porsche because they want to embrace a more "green" approach to the use of natural resources.
I personally use 7-8,000 miles as my oil change interval.

Thanks guys, it's good to have a reality check sometimes. One can go down the rabbit hole real fast!

All this being discussed, there is a receipt for an oil change at 95,xxx miles and the car has 99,xxx miles so the oil change was done about 4K miles ago. I think the write up is incorrect.

I thought the X50 cars had the twin exit exhaust tips?

The twin tips are often associated with the X50 package, but they are actually a stand alone option. X54 is the option for the twin tips. Build sheet and window sticker below from my former 996 showing X50 package and X54 twin tips..
