I wonder if it the same car as in this thread?

Mileage is different but you have to wonder how many manual 01s with delaminating brown leather there can be on the market at the same time.

Sorry, have to disagree here. The ability to shift at a relative RPM with a TIP vs Manual, is not comparable. The movement of shifting with a TIP is the flick of a single appendage. The shift with a manual is more labor-intensive, thus more involved, with leg, ankle, foot (sometimes toe) in addition to back, shoulder, wrist movement.

Both take skill to do properly, but doing this with a manual is much more involved / intensive, and requiring more skill.

Listen to a professional driver, and they will tell you with the amount of power in their cars these days, it makes it much more manageable for them that cars are DSG, because they have to focus on keeping the power on the ground and pointing in a straight line.
A great example is Chris Harris as an amateur driver. He gives many reviews where he explains this as well...

Open heart surgery is a more involved process for a surgeon than placing two sutures to close a laceration on your arm.

If I did the electrical wiring in your house and in one room used three switches that had to be engaged in a specific order to turn on the ceiling light, and in another room used one switch that simply had to be moved from "off" to "on" to turn on the ceiling light, the three-switch light would be a more involved process to operate than the single switch light. If one enjoyed the involvement of making more switch selections to turn on a single light, they would rather turn the light on and off in the room that required the three switch movements, not the room that required the simple actuation of one switch.

Completing differential equations is a more involved process than answering what 22*19 equals. If someone enjoys the mental involvement of higher order math computations then they would find completing a higher order differential equation more satisfying than completing the multiplication required to answer what 22*19 is.

The higher the number of processes/steps that are required to achieve something, the higher the involvement. It takes just one switch actuation to change gears in a 996 Turbo with Tiptronic transmission, while it takes three control actuations to change gears in a 996 Turbo with a manual transmission. The manual transmission is therefore more involved to operate; it takes more driver involvement to operate than a Tip. For those who enjoy a higher level of driver involvement in operating a transmission, the manual transmission offers more than the Tip transmission.

TLDR.

No matter how much you type, it's still just your opinion.

I, and many others, disagree with these opinions.

Interesting. It could be same vehicle. I wasn’t aware of the other issues.

You mean "No matter how many factual examples you present I'm going to stick by my unsustainable position".

You are obviously entitled to your opinion, but your opinion doesn't change the facts.

Why do you think some people dislike driving a manual transmission in stop and go traffic? Is it because of the fact that operating a manual is a more involved process than operating a Tip??

You are now, and always seem to be, confusing your opinion with actual fact.

The meaning of "involved" within the context of this debate is clearly an opinion. The fact that you need to type out multiple mundane and illinformed paragraphs in an attempt to make your opinion into a "fact" only proves you are grasping at straws, or even worse, bored by retirement and looking for trivial entertainment.

No offense, but you are being quite hypocritical here. Also, you are wrong about a tip being just as involved as a 6 speed. It simply isn’t true- there is much more going on or “involvement” when driving a manual on the street or track. Tiptronic cars are great, but they cost less because people buy into the idea of having a more involved driving experience with a manual.

An activity that is more involved than another activity is an activity that is more complicated/complex. Involved means "difficult to understand; complicated". Launching and changing gears in a 996 Turbo with a manual transmission is certainly more complicated/complex than launching and changing gears in a 996 Turbo with a Tiptronic transmission. That is a fact, not an opinion.

Involved Physically = Objective

Involved Emotionally / Internally = Subjective

You two are both "Right".

It is more involving for some, but not for others. There are folks out there that drive a manual purely on muscle memory alone, thus they are not very involved in that portion of the drive.

Thank you. This is exactly my point.

I am talking about the emotional involvement.
