Still around, but playing a bit of Garage Space Tetris these days...

I really should sell one of the 996 Turbos, but haven't come to terms with the idea of giving one up, or worse, deciding *which* of the Mezger Turbos to give up if I do!. Such fantastic and wildly under-appreciated cars.

Have you considered installing a 4 post lift so to can rack and stack more P cars?

I definitely have, but a lift, 2 or 4 post, just doesn't work well with my setup. Re-thought it a dozen times and always the same conclusion.

Db carbon from Germany

If all goes well, I’m switching this out tomorrow for an oem carbon shifter that I ordered from suncoast about a year ago and it’s supposed to get here tomorrow!

‘Did this a little while ago after I did the leatherique treatment for the seats. Looks really nice and I did order the horseshoe but got the wrong one unfortunately. I hope they’ll let me exchange it for the one that fits my application. I may order some other bits and pieces for the interior because the gray plastic trim pieces have an irritating habit of chipping or flaking off leaving black spots. If I go with cf, I will have a permanent solution but I don’t want to go overboard with it.

anyhow, I have a few things left to do:

1. Mount and balance turbo twists with ps4s. I’m looking forward to seeing how these feel and handle.
2. Replace or repair any tatty interior bits and get the inside as pristine as possible.
3. Delete on the front license plate and put the plugs over the holes. It looks horrid.
4. Remove front bumper and clean out the radiators.
5. Remove all 4 tires and clean the wheel wells and all visible and accessible surfaces. If you have a product recommendation, I’m all ears!
6. Assess all caliper paint and if I can’t get them clean enough, I’d like to get them refinished. Any suggestions on this??
7. Visual inspection of the bone stock suspension and driving assessment to determine whether or not I go down the rabbit hole for new suspension. I am so tempted to go for some performance stuff like mono all but I already have a 996 turbo race car that’s chock full of that with custom adjustable jrzs so basically I’m thinking about putting rubber bushings back in it (I want to avoid polys) with maybe some ohlins and tarret gt3 sways with their drop links. I’d be going out on a limb here and doing it myself, so there’s some trepidation with that. Again suggestions welcomed. I want a comfortable cruiser that can canyon carve.
8. Detail exterior and do paint correction and touch up some rock chips. Then send out for ppf. then ceramic coat it.
9. Remove window tint. It definitely looks nice but inside the cabin, it’s dark. I seem to attracted to cars with tint, 991.2 tts, ferrari, and now my 992 tts all tinted. Quality problems.
10. The big elephant in the room is that I’m thinking about dropping the engine and changing out all rubber hoses as well as anything else that can become degraded in a 20 year old and have the coolant lines pinned or preferably welded.

overall the car looks really nice and I am looking forward to spring, the snow melting, some father/son activities and some great drives.

im not sure whether db carbon refinished or gets new. They probably say it on their website. Quality is excellent for all peace including the wheel. If you look at suncoasts prices for carbon, it makes these prices more palatable.

This looks great, has anyone tried the Carbonlution products? Are they both similar quality to OEM?

Default Solved psm, abs, check engine light issue

Finally done, new mass air flow sensor. Car boost back to .8-.9. Got it washed and detailed inside. Next driving to Kemah Texas, our region best concourse de elegance is today and then Porsche River oaks is hosting us for a reception at garage ultimate food and drinks, of course I’m taking my own. A shop owner last Saturday told me he was quoting 2 hours at $185/hr plus tax to diagnose. Between you tube, a friends durametric pro and snap on scanner, my mechanic pwis, and the different part stores code readers, I was finally able to find the root cause Of the problem. Anyway knowledgeable shop owners told me all kind of possible causes, boost vaccum leak, dirty throttle body, brake pedal switch, clutch pedal switch. I’m glad I got it done, so total cost for fuel filter, maf, and what I gave my mechanic to run pwis and install fuel filter $200. Happy Saturday

No more lights.

Car had original fuel filter.
