I get that, I think it is probably safer to say it is an issue of trust - some nasty stories floating around here about guys not knowing what they are doing, and things getting broken bad.
I had a very good experience with Mike @ PIA in your neck of the woods, I would most certainly let them do a few pulls with confidence.

I took advantage of the wet, cold weather and cleaned out my radiators. Even though they were done a little while back, it's always a surprise what gets vacuumed up. I helped a neighbor clean out his '01 and we found one of those plastic grocery bags tucked up in there.
Thanks,
Steve

We used a dyno when Sam was tuning the stock ECU and also did all the tuning on the Motec on a dyno but that consisted of over 200 pulls and probably 20+ hrs on the rollers. That of course involved writing the complete map from scratch vs. simply modifying the OEM parameters.

All you need to do is disconnect the drive shaft in the tunnel. Takes about 15 minutes with a lift. A dyno is virtually indispensable when you are doing remote tuning as it allows you to see your hp and torque curve. You will then be able to identify any odd dips in the curves and address those with tuning. Without that, you are simply looking at logs and those will not tell the whole story. Trust me....

I 100% agree with you, however, as I noted above, some of our local operators do not have the best reputation and there have been some unfortunate events due to dyno operator, so as a replacement motor is fairly spendy, I am going to ask my Subaru tuner in Tacoma if they will firstly let me do a baseline run, and then, if timelines allow, allow Sam to do some remote tuning while the car is on their rollers. I can pop the turbo in the trailer and be down there in a couple of hours, so not too much of an inconvenience.

That's handy.... Thank you.

A question
should I just buy the 68 mm ipd plenum, or buy the 74mm one. I’m keeping stock Injectors, fuel pump. Your advice is really appreciated. Or if the ipd plenum provides any gain. According to a dyno on my 3/98 coupe with all the other mods helping it. It was good for 11 hp. Your wise knowledge is appreciated.

Go big, or go home...
You'll need someone to tune it once it's in; once that was done with mine, infinitely better than just bolting it on was.

Will do, however, I think yours may in fact be cooler with that fancy 4.0l in it...

Haha, thanks, I would say the functional car is the cooler car though and mine is still a bit off
In the mean time, friendly neighborhood Fed Ex man brought these to me.. matches up nicely with the Motorsport front carriers I found a few weeks ago, as always thanks to pwdrhound for the guidance on the part numbers and making sure I didn't buy the wrong stuff.

Gotcha, and those are shiny and very cool.
I may be down in Olympia next month for a couple of days trying to figure out what bureaucrats are running parts of the State to do with Earthquake Early Warning, may bring the turbo down then.... it is running...

Looking great brother! Don't forget to order the ABS cable bracket that goes with these. There is a left and right. You can see it here where the ABS cable disconnect attaches.
