Default Only 996 to win Lemans had 996.2 headlights!

Many folks like to discuss the fried egg headlights as being designed from the Le Man's winning Porsche GT1 headlights. But in reality, no 996.1 ever won LeMans, but a 996.2 did.

In 2005, Alex Job Racing won the LeMans GT2 class in a 996 GT3-RSR driven by Mike Rockenfeller, Mark Lieb and Leo Hindery.

Even with the stupid incident, car driven 11 miles at 40 mph in first gear the engine is in great shape if it was the 99 it would have blown. Thanks God the turbo is a Mezger. Holy grail saw this one today 04 gt3 30k miles cool car and nice owner. I invited him to go next week to the cars and coffee maybe we get him and Tex squirrel 🐿 with his new 4.0 FSI to do a comparison. Today I actually raced a 2023 corvette, i threed him but by the time I shifted to second about 7000 rpms he was passing me and pulling hard. Those 2023 corvettes are fast as heck. Like to see him again when I get my turbo to 625 hp.

But it was no more a 996 than was a Carerra GT or boxster with the same headlights.

996.2 only 996 to win Lemans.

How dare you disrespect the fried egg headlight gods! All cars with those headlights are essentially a 996 Technically the headlights on that silver 996 are all yolks!

Hah! No disrespect. I love all 996s. We are lucky to have any one of them with any headlight. I could have ended up with a black 996.1 C4 back in the day. By the time I was ready to buy it was gone and a seal grey 996.2 took its place. Luck of the draw. Just making sure the racing record is set straight regardless of headlights. At the end of the day, the 996.1 and 996.2 are all 996s. Go long the 996.

I took a closer look at this one because it has the same color combination as my car. Then I saw the rear end shot. *headsmack*

I couldn't imagine why the bidding was so low with one day left on what appeared to be a 4S. I then saw the "Modification": "911 Carrera 4S" badge added. Kinda leaves a bad taste.

I think they could fit more on there with a third row:
PORSCHE
2004 911 996.2
Carrera 4S AWD AT CAB

What do you think? It needs more, doesn't it?

Maybe the seller is George Santos. It’s a 4S, just look, it says it right there! The auction site should be ashamed. I guess he couldn’t find a good GT2 badge

Sehnsucht - had to look that one up. I would wager Sogi doesn't live there either.

Might as well throw in "twin turbo" "supercharged" "limited edition" and add a NOS badge.
(I forgot, it needs "PDK" too)

Yeah, a 4S with an upgrade C2 front trunk.
Man that must have been tough to update.

Yes it does, which is a shame.
A C2 cabriolet with a tiptronic is not a horrible car to own.
It deserve to be purchased and brought back down to earth!

Compare looks, sure.
But no comparing performance on the street.

Nice looking GT3 though!
I'd like to have a look at it.
